Alphabet Fast link

Is there a plug in that allows the alphabet to run across the top so you can fast click to a certian letter in the music?

similar to this question

http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4158

basicly add a button and change the button id to "show>a" for your A button and "show>b" for your B button etc....you'll have to add all the buttons yourself though.

Similar to the question I posted a while back :-) Should it work from an overlay? I remember it did, but it stopped at some point?

it did? ok lets enable it again then :) xlobby will check overlays first for a category if none found it will go to the base nonoverlayed screen.

Yes, it works fine both from screen and overlay, but when I select a letter that contains no items (from overlay), it doesn;t do anything - somehow it would be more logical to jump to the next (or closest) item (letter).

i.e. Items in database are:

OPQRSTUVWXZ

and i press Y (not in database), it should jump to closest item, that is Y or Z ?

Thanks, it worked. Know anything about defaulting to artist

Postby escort on Fri Mar 31, 2006 8:29 pm

Worked like a charm.

I am now trying to disply by artist only. The only way I have been able to do this is run it through a search, then select artist. I was hoping to have it display by artist on default.

Let me explain a bit more. If I have let's say 5 albums by Van Halen, I just want it to say Van Halen, when clicked it display's all of the albums rather than having 5 van halen albums in the default screen.

It depends on how you import the music.

Go into setup-databases-import and choose music from the drop down.

At the bottom you will see ID3 options - choose Artist-Album.

You will need to delete your database and reimport with that option.

Later
Simon.

The show>A etc works fine if you are using buttons, but what if your alphabet is in a category? How do I execute a show>A for db entries? There is no place to put id on category entries. I think show>A should be an actual Xlobby command.

I agree w/ above. Show>Y should take you to nearest. And show>A should move you to that point in a category, like snap track does, not filter a category.

Added the goto function when nothing is found for a specific letter.

show>A will not filter unless you have an input button on the screen, for categories that want to an alphabet selection I've also added the ability to use the parameter field to store "show>a" instead of creating a bunch of events.

Does not work. I have created and ABC category with show>a or "show>a" or "show>a>music"and a bunch of other variations as the parameter. Nothing works. What am I doing wrong that my ABC category doesnt jump my music forward?

P.S. Every category I make the text has a "natural" enter state, it offsets down and right on enter, no matter what i do or what resource is applied. I hate it.
