Help with Profiler import. Stuck on "Sorting"...

Postby Arno on Wed Dec 08, 2004 4:30 am

Hello,

I am just starting with XL (version Dec 03) and I have a problem with DVD Profiler imports.
I already went to the documentation page that describes step by step how to do it, but that did not help...

I also erased all the databases from the XL directory to try from scratch but that did not fix it either...

Everything goes fine with exporting the collection.xml file from DVD Profiler (v2.3) and I can get the XL import setup screen to look right, however, when I click on Import, the popup window shows up and shows "sorting" status and nothing happens.
I have to red-X close the popup window.

Just to test if there were too many movies in the xml file, I just exported 1 movie in the file, but still no go.

As per the documentation page, I do not have anything under the "Path" section on the right of the movie import tab.
If I put the path to my movies folder which are organized like \Movies\MovieName\VIDEO_TS\VOBs, IFOs, BUPs, etc... the popup window goes through its pace and bring back all the movies from that folder, witout coverart or movie information of course...
Could anybody please point me in the right direction?

Thank you in advance,

Arno

You set the path to your movies on the basic TAB.
If you then go to the Databases TAB, click the import TAB and on the 'Import To DB:' drop down select movies, xlobby will then shows the paths you set on the basic TAB in the Paths window below.
The Template (top, left) box should now say movies.
Make sure you have Import Type set to movie and that under DVD Profiler settings you have the correct path, I have:

Folder: C:\Program Files\DVD Profiler
XML: C:\Program Files\DVD Profiler\collection.xml

If all your settings are correct and you are still not getting anything imported in the movies db, try removing all paths from the Basic TAB and import with just the Profiler XML (sometimes xlobby will stop its import if your folder structure is incorrect).

I am using DVD Profiler version 2.2

I have run into the situation similar to arno. It seems like the first time I do an import, it gets stuck on the sorting screen. If a close this and rerun the import, it works fine. However, it will stick on the sorting screen every other time I run import with the movies database. This does not happen with other databases.

Curious....

If you look in the movies database, either through F2 database TAB highlight movies and click edit, or in the underlying xml file, you will have 2 or more entries for a movie that you see more than 1 cover for.

All of the problems that caused this have been fixed with the on-line / off-line stuff, so the only other time I see this is if the movie name in DVD Profiler does not match exactly the name you gave the directory for the movie on your Hard Drive.

Rename the directory on your HD to match that in DVD profiler and delete the 2 entries from the movies catalogue, then click Import again.

gamejester,

Thank you for the very simple explanation.
You are correct in that sometimes the movie name from Profiler did not match the name of the folder on the server.

Fixed that and it's all good now. :D

Thank you again for the prompt and valuable help.

Hello everyone,

I'm bumping into this one, i've got the same problem

I'm stuck at the sort phase (CPU & Memory are going crazy  )

I've followed every step of the help page : http://www.xlobby.com/files/jowaldo/doc ... /index.htm

My setup :
Lastest Xlobby.exe (16/12)
DVDProfiler 2.3.1 (Last Build 826)
Profiler Path : C:\Program Files\InterVocative Software\DVD Profiler
Collection XML Path & File : C:\Collection.xml (600 DVD's)

An Idea ?

Bye

Stef,

I had to reinstall XL from scratch and that fixed my problem.
I could not tell you exactly what did it...

I had the same problem. I think its a problem with using profiler 2.3. Luckily I ave multiple machines and I was able to test this out. I think its an Xlobby problem. It will not open profiler ver 2.3. If you uninstall and then re-install 2.2 and compile your xml using 2.3 it works fine. I tried this for 3 days before I fixed it.

I had the same issue immediately following upgrading to 2.3 and exporting the xml file. Reloaded 2.2, exported and it's working properly again.

Thanks everyone,

I came back to 2.2 and everything went ok.

Apparently Steven is aware of the problem with the 2.3 :
