losing connection to server

Postby scott on Sun Jun 19, 2005 1:36 pm

Hi I have been having problems with xlobby and my network as a whole losing connection to my media server, I have 3 clients and 1 server. The server is running MS server 2003 and the clients run xp pro. I am using a May 11 build date version of Xlobby.
This is what happens: I can log into the server no problem after a reboot, but after about a day the connection is lost, and upon trying to reconnect a user/password dialog box appears. When I enter the correct user/pass I am unable to get to the server, it says that user pass was already tried. If I try to use Xlobby to access music or movies it locks up because all the media is on the server. I spoke to my tech at work and he suggested it try the following:

Double Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Double Click on System
Double Click on CurrentControlSet
Double Click on Services
Double Click on LanmanServer
Double Click on Parameters
Double Click on Autodisconnect
Change the Value Data to ffffffff
Click on File -> Exit
This was supposed to turn off the auto disconnect feature in the servers OS. The problem has not been solved. Any suggestions would be appreciated
Thanks
scott

There may also be a setting on the lan card to make it go to sleep after a period of no activity, might be worth trying turning the feature off.
