Override Navigation to/from Music Box

Postby erikt on Thu Nov 11, 2004 2:37 am

Hi,

I just dove into skinning Xlobby tonight. As a learning experience, I'm
playing with Jowaldo's skin.

One thing that is very important to me is making navigation using a
remote control simple and intuitive. As a result, I quickly figured out how
to override the navigation algorith for buttons on my screen.
However, on the Music page, the musicviewer box is a matrix of
albums that aren't buttons. I can't figure out how to override the navigation
either within this box, or to/from this box and the buttons which surround
it. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks,
erikt

Yes sir.
The musicviewer box or category as it is called doesnt use navigation override for its manuvering. It does as a whole category but not internally. Treat the whole big "yellow" textbox as a button. And assign navigation too and from it accordingly.

Then, within the category you would choose different scroll types to fit your needs. This can conflict with your navigation override, so you will have to make decisions.

Colby's Skinning Doc it wrote:Scroll: choose how the category selector scrolls when it gets to the edge and onto the next page

Left Right – when the selector gets to the right most edge it will change pages and remain right

Left Right Move - when the selector gets to the right most edge it will change pages and move to the left.

Up Down - when the selector gets to the top most edge it will change pages and remain atop.

Up Down Move - when the selector gets to the top most edge it will change pages and move to the bottom.

Snake- when the selector gets to the right most edge it will drop down a line. If it is at the bottom right corner it will change pages and be up top left.

None – the selector will not change pages of the category at page edge.

Wow, that's intuitive enough that even I should have figured it out...

Thanks!
