Problems importing mp3 collection

Postby JBG667 on Mon Feb 16, 2004 9:57 pm

Hi Everyone,

This is an amazing piece of software. Nice work!

I am having one problem however. I am not able to add any mp3s to the music database.

My MP3s reside on a mapped network drive called Z:\

The folder structure is as following

z:\ftp\----==== Music ====----\----====Downloads ====----\----==== New ====----\Music Genre\Artist - Album - bitrate\files.mp3

For some reason I can't get Xlobby to find/import any mp3s when I scan this drive.

I tried coping one of the albums to the local e:\ drive and placing it in E:\Music\Artist - Album - bitrate\ but it still didn't work.

I am using Win 2003 server and xLobby 39.1.

TIA!

Did you add mp3 as a file type?

Is this a bad case of RTFM?

No manuals available so more of a K.I.S.S case.

Could I get a pointer as to where to look for instructions on how to add the mp3s.

I was able to add my movies without having to change anything (just pointed Xlobby to the right folder and clicked "Load DVDs")

Thanks!

Hey guys-

Image

See where that red arrow is? Make sure you enter in all extentions you'de like scanned for (.mp3, .mpc , .wav , etc. etc.). Then add in the path you wish to be scanned, then scan them, and presto! - mp3s are entered all neat(hopefully). Hope I've cleared it up. Good luck!

Thanks!

I guess it's pretty obvious now that I see it working :-). duh.

One thing I noticed though, and I'm not sure if this is a bug.

There seems to be a limit to the path length.

If I map my shared folder at the root folder level, the mp3 scanner seems to get stuck.

i.e.

z:\ftp\----==== Music ====----\----====Downloads ====----\----==== New ====----\Music Genre\Artist - Album - bitrate\files.mp3

doesn't work.

Hoever if I map it at the \----==== New ====----\ level, so that the drive becomes:

Z:/Music Genre\Artist - Album - bitrate\files.mp3

there is no problem importing the files.

just FYI....

thanks again!
