Advice please on upgrading to .Net 2.0 versions

Postby rbziggy on Mon Sep 04, 2006 6:54 pm

I've been holding off upgrading to the latest version of XL which requires .Net 2.0 because I've been too busy over the summer and because my current version setup is now pretty complex and is absolutely rock solid.

However, the XWeather plugin stopped working sometime back and I think this has been fixed. So...

Anything I need to know about before upgrading?
Any wrinkles in the latest install?
Can I roll back to my current version easily (i.e. without rebuilding the machine) if it all goes wrong?

Or will the current XWeather plugin work on pre .Net 2.0 setups???

Thanks!

My understanding is that Net 2.0 is not an 'upgrade' as such to Net 1.1. but and alternative (and improved) set of functions. Net 2.0 installs alongside Net 1.1 and not over the top of it. Both versions can co-exist happily on the same system and the application automatically sorts out which interfaces it needs to use. Both installed very easily on my systems ( XP SP2 and W2K) with no wrinkles at all.
