Multizone audio questions

Postby Marbles_00 on Sat Dec 03, 2005 10:44 pm

I'm spinning this off from this post:
http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3714
as I'm starting to get specific to what I'm trying to do.

I'm currently playing around with the KX drivers and a SB0222 Live card. I am using the Heavy Metal skin and have instances of Winamp for outputs 4/5, 6/7, 8/9 for individual zones. I have also setup an instance of Winamp on outputs 0/1 which I will use as an "All Zones" output for multizone sync.

Questions:
Does anyone have a list of variable commands for displaying artist, track titles, images, and zone title? The ones offered in the Heavy Metal skin don't seem to display anything for me. I've done a search on the forum to no success and Colby's Event Variable doc only seems to touch on the basics.

Has anyone been able to successfully output zone sync with the Xlobby sync command using the Creative cards and the KX drivers? I tried but it doesn't seem to work. If so, what skin are you using?

Is there a way for Xlobby to send a stop command to all instances of Winamp at the same time? What I noticed above is that when I try and output to "All Zones", if I don't stop the individual outputs first, I get multiple sources outputting at the same time...very irritating. If not, maybe I will request this and Steve, once he's back, could impliment a master stop command, if it can be done at all. What I would like to impliment is a button for "All Zones" which will send and event to stop all Winamps, then play the Winamp for output 0/1. Then selecting an individual zone thereafter, will send a "master" stop command (stoping the All Zones) then play the individual instance of winamp. Confused? I hope not.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I think the default "pre-release" skin has the variable commands that you are looking for.

When in sync the stop command stops all zones. For hwta you want to achieve with starting another zone playing something, couldn't it be done with a macro of a series of commands?

Thanks John,

I didn't even think about a .bat file with Winamp command line parameters. That would probably work great.

I will have to check the pre-release to see if there is a text file defining the zone variables, not to sure. Or maybe Steven included something in his skin.

I think I may have solved most of my issues for multizoning for my application.

Thanks again John.

Hey Colby,

Your document mentions zoning under the Xlobby events (zone new group, zone next, zone previous, zone set, and zone synch all). I noticed in the Heavy Metal skin in the zone overlay (settings_02) the following text variables that aren't mentioned in your doc:
%zone>#>status%
zone>#>image
where # is the zone number

I assumed status would give the current song track of that zone and image would be the current album cover in that zone, but neither seem to do anything (or display anything) for me. I was wondering what other text variables there are for zone information (such as artist, track, album, song duration, time elapsed). It would be good to show what each zone is playing on one page (or overlay), but I don't know the variables.

*EDIT* I should have noted in my first post that I'm looking for varibles to display ZONE information, suchas tracks, artists, timing, playlist information of each zone.

Well, I just learned...big difference when one turns on XNET. Now the titles and images are displayed no problems for the different zones. OOPPSS!

Colby, I still think that those text variables need to be added to your document.
