text scrolling options

Got an idea, post it here

Postby lar282 on Fri May 19, 2006 6:34 am

Hi
I thought one option would be verticall scrolling, but next page is good too. I am prob doing something wrong cause I can't get the next page to work on a category overlay text box

I have a buttonID on the button "nextpagenews"
have an event with the above button id
BUT how does XL know WHAT text box?I have 3 text boxes on that screen.Do I have to tag the correct one with a ID too?

when I click the button nothing happens

lar282, verticall scrolling is actually the "loop" mode, try it out on a movie plot or something it will scroll the whole thing until it gets to the end.

you also have to give the textbox the buttonid NOT the button controlling the event, so for a textbox with a movie plot i would give it the buttonid "plot" and use that in my event which is then triggered from another button or where ever.

bfauska, sounds like a bug I will look into it when I get a chance.

I think I will also make "loop" pause at the beginning of each new page.

Thanks alot for this implementation Steven. It works great over here.
Would it also be possible to a have a scrollbar feature like you just added for cateories?

i think the vertical scrolling is a little fast.

could we have an option to control the scroll speed?

i just set loop on my movies plot (the abbys from imdb) and it looked good.

went and stuck a quick my post above.

went back to xlobby and the plot has vanished.

if i disable loop it reapears, as soon as i select loop it vanishes again.

i am sure tou must love me... :)

also noticed that when i set the text to loop, the centering is off - it centres on the text size NOT the text box size.

cant reproduce the vanishing plot on my htpc...

it happens on my sony vaio laptop tho!

But i have noticed a biggy, look at the task manager while a movie plot is scrolling and on my p4 2.6 its arround 96% cpu!

Finally decided to play around with this. Great feature Steven. I have to agree with the others though ( oh here we go) concerning the Loop scrolling. Could there be a way to either slow it down, or pause per line/page? Damn, I'll admit, I'm not a speed reader, so something like that would sure help.
