NEED HELP - Extreme Frustration

Postby Bill Lott on Sat Sep 25, 2004 11:01 pm

PLEASE HELP!
:? :?
After evaluating Meedio, NetRemote, MainLobby, and xLobby I've decided that xLobby is the best GUI available for my needs. Now for the problem. After 2 weeks of trying everything I know to do, I can't get the client to work on my Fujitsu 510 touchpad!

I'm running the latest xLobby builds, XP on the Server and Win98 on both the Fujitsu and on a laptop. I'm able to get xLobby2SD to work on the laptop with 98 but not the touchpad. I'm able to connect the laptop to the server with Homeseer and Message Server but not with xLobby. very Strange (and frustrating).

On the Touchpad after clicking on the SC icon and loading SD:
message boxes say... load settings OK... new client OK.. read file OK.. new form OK.. 1. Ready to connect OK.. 2. try to connect OK.. 3. connect test OK.. 4 could not connect to 192.168.1.50. Please try again.

The above on the laptop works like a charm (step 4 is connected). Am I missing something simple? I've reloaded Win98, .net framework 1.1, xLobby.. etc. but can not connect. Someone please help - I'm Out Of Ideas.

Thanks!!!!!!!

that is an experimental version you have there, we were using it to diagnose the thin client bug. As far as I know it is now working fine.

http://www.xlobby.com/xlobby2.zip

download that, and use the new xlobby2.exe and the new xlobby2sd.exe in that zip file. You shouldnt see the "ready connect" and all those other popup boxes.

Client still not able to connect

Postby Bill Lott on Sun Sep 26, 2004 2:03 pm

WOW! Thanks Stephen for the quick response.

Still not working for me. I downloaded the attached version and still getting the client message on the Fujitsu touchpad:
Could not connect to 192.168.1.50. Please try again.

This does work on another laptop running the same version of Windows 98 and connect without a problem, but not on the Fujitsu.

I don't know if this will be of any help, but, if I try to just run xLobby2 on the Fujitsu, it hangs at "Loading: Please wait..." In the older pre 2.8 it froze the computer at "Loading: Setup". Also under 2.8 I got the following message screen on the client while trying to connect.
Connect()error, Class:ClientSystem.NetSockets.SocketException:Unknown error (0x273c) at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.ctor(AddressFamily addressFamily, at xlobby2sd.Client.Conect(int32 attempt)

Could I still be missing a required Windows file? This seems to be the only program that I'm having problems with when trying to connect to the server. again... very strange (and frustrating).

I've got so much time involved now I'm really hoping for a solution. Thanks again - your efforts are greatly appreciated!

ok so your server is running at that address right, can you even ping that address from your Fujitsu? It really sounds like a networking issue, can the fujitsu surf the net or look at network shares...I'm trying to make sure it can actually talk to the network.

Network seems to be working OK. yes, the server is at 192.168.1.50

I can surf the web and access the Sever with no problems from the Fujitsu.
