Music Directory structure help please

Postby wadsbrau on Wed Oct 05, 2005 12:32 am

I store my music (various file formats) in a pure directory based structure. I want to be able to view the music in Xlobby in an unchanged directory "list" so to speak. I have tried using "use directory structure". However, it does not import purely this way.
Not all of the folders contain subfolders: Example: I have a funk folder that contains my favorite funk songs. This folder is contains this list without subfolder (no need). Importing creates a top level with no name. It should be the folder name.

Is this a bug?

How can I import music so that the directory structure is exactly as I created it on my server? Just like myHTPC does.

This is keeping me from using Xlobby

Thank you
Darren

Most of my music is not in MP3 format. So no tagging.

What format then? Many formats can carry tags -- ogg/flac, ape, wma... When I first started using Xlobby, few of my files were tagged and I found creating a useable database to be very frustrating and time consuming, so I got Tag & Rename and life has been a lot easier ever since.

If you're adamant about avoiding tags, you need to look into Meta Masks. It's a tab in the Import section of Xlobby's Setup panel, and it dictates how many folder levels deep a custom import goes, and how to identify the files you want imported. Been a while since I used them so I can't give exact specifics. Do some searches for Meta Mask and you should be able to eventually configure the import correctly.
