'missing' albums

Postby dangerkipper on Thu Jun 03, 2004 8:41 pm

This program is exactly what I have been looking for but I have one major problem.

Although most of my albums are correctly listed, some steadfastly refuse to appear on the list even tho they are definitely there and playable.

All albums are in the same folder and refreshing the database and mannually adding doesnt seem to make any difference!

Any ideas what the problem is?

Maybe its tagging, I recently compressed my ape collection via dbpoweramp to smaller mp3's for use with a portable device but during the comression it has altered some of the tags, if i import the smaller collection into a fresh xlobby they are all there but appear in different places.

I found that all my missing albums were imported as various artists due to tag errors. If an album has more that one artist then xlobby stores it as 'various'.

Remember 'Metallica' and 'metallica' are 2 different artists to xlobby.

If one song on the album has no artist in the mp3 tag then it also gets called various.

I found that if i load the music.xml file into notepad and do a search on a song name of an album i cannot find - xlobby has created it but under other names - like various. Just correct the tags.

Yup you were quite right! I corrected the tags and now my missing albums have shown up!

I did have to delete the old database and start from scratch but its all working now. Thanks
