Help each other out

Please tell me I did this right.

I want my movies database to refresh everytime I go to that page. I added the event of catergory: refresh to my events. I then in the skin editor added that event to the screen as the enter event. Is this correct, I'm using dvd profiler and woud just like to have this automated as I add movies to my media server from my other computer. This way I never have to update db manaualy on my htpc. Thanks in advance. (Using xlobby 2.)

You could do it that way I guess, although I can't say I've ever used a skin that was set up like that. I've never used the Screen events at all actually. I guess the real question is does it work like you want it to?

Personally I would add the Category:Refresh command to your "Goto Movies" event (or whatever it is called). So let's say you've got a "Movies" button on your menu page. That button has an event assigned to it in the skin editor - something like "Goto:Goto Movies". Open the event editor (F2) and goto "SKIN:Goto:Goto Movies" and add the Category:Refresh command to the event (specifying "movies" as the category of course). You also may need to add a Category:Reset command after the refresh, I don't remember if the refresh does an automatic reset or not.

good luck,

Did my way and your way no dice. Does it matter that I'm using the dvd profiler. It updates fine manually in the f2 databases menu. Just can't automate this. Any help would be appreciated.

another way to do it is like this

go into the skin editor (pause/break)on your movies page, click "screen" then "edit"...you will see an "enter event" where you can assign an event to a screen when you enter it. Try that out.

A concern with updating the database everytime you try to view it is wouldn't that slow down the opening of the database? It seems like having it just update once a day in the middle of the night or something would be better for performance.
