Wide Screen Default skin

Got an idea, post it here

Wide Screen Default skin

Postby rsh on Fri Apr 21, 2006 1:13 pm

Steve,

Any plans to do the widescreen version of the Xlobby default skin?

I really like it, but it does not display properly on my wide screen monitor and HT Screen which are 16x9

Thanks
Roman

I would love to, if I knew how to do it.

I am not familiar with the process.

Read this: http://xlobby.incolby.com/SkinningXlobbya40.2.htm

It should be a fairly simple process afterwards. Essentially what you want to do is adjust whatever does not look right on your screen.
Good luck

OK, that worked.

The problem is I do not know how to invoke the Skin editor from a secondary screen. For example when I choose Search options (under movies), if gives me a secondary screen (pop up). When I press pause/break nothing is happening - I cannot invoke the editor. any suggestions?

Thanks

Roman (it's not Polanski by any chance? )

"popup"/ overlay is just another screen, so what you need to do is open skin editor on "regular" screen and in the skin editor switch to "goto" tab and pick your overlay screen from the list, this will take you to that screen.

I do not know what he wants to do, but I doubt these are his problems....

Anyway,

That was fairly easy to do.

two more questions:

1. In the search window, when you choose a category for example, in order to choose the "search category" you either need to use a mouse to click on it or arrow keys on the keyboard (or a remote control). When using arrow keys or remote control, the items are not being highlighted.

Anyone knows how to fix it?

2. How do I build a zip file and post it here after I am done?

Thanks

Open skin editor, go to your desired screen, select your category, in the skin editor click on the "item" tab, next on the "category", next on the "display" tab. Here you have bunch of buttons, one of them is "selected", click on it - new window should pop up where you'll have 3 tabs (only 2 work) you can either use resource in "display" tab or image on "image" tab....

to build zip file you'll need program like winzip, winrar... or if you use winxp just right click on the folder/file and from popup menu pick 'send to -> compressed (zipped) folder'
To post it 'here' ... you'll have to ask Steven if he'll be willing to give you access to his ftp server or you'll need to upload your file to your web space and just link it in one of your posts....

Art,

Thank you very much - you have been very helpful.
I will try this tomorrow, and let you know if I was successful.

Thank you again
