playing an asx stream

Postby billberet on Sun Feb 08, 2009 10:37 pm

hey, i've been trying to get an asx stream to work in xlobby for my online radio pages.

is there any configuration to get an asx to play. some codec to download.
it's my friends station so he gave me the url so i can play it directly, and not go thru their player.

http://www.beirutnights.com/live.asx

can anyone get this url to play?
i keep getting 'could not connect, busy'

thanks again

I get zero on MSIE. 404 on Left click, no reaction on right click.

i can play the url in media player, just put in the url and it plays.
yet i cannot get it to play in xlobby.

if you go to the ipradio page, and edit one of the urls, to the one above, it does not play for me.
i get the 'busy' response.

xLobby should be able to play this file. I will send this link to Steven to see what might be causing the issue.

Bill, the current audio player has a difficult time playing ASX file types, here is a temporary solution. You can play this file from the videosmulti menu using the internal media player. You can add a player to your IP radio menu and use the "button set text" command to display the station title. Most likely we are going to build the windows media player dll into xlobby so we can select between our internal player and exploit WMP inside xlobby. The only drawback is some minor issues that will effect multizone audio from the first zone using the internal sound card, additional zones have to use the internal player. But in any case this will allow us to use visualizations, equalizer, crossfading etc. from inside xLobby. Using WMP will also allow us to playback a wider range of file types.

See this screenshot:

no problem,
i'll give it a shot
:)

Can i configure an external player to play audio streams, or music in general?
like winamp. Or do i have to stick with the internal players.

Bill,

see these posts (FYI)
http://xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=5959&hilit=winamp

http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5310&p=36121&hilit=+winamp#p36121

I thought we had a setup example for winamp but after searching the forum, no luck. I need to see if something is still available in the archieves. If anyone has the origional setup details, please post a link or the details on setup so I dont have to recreate the instructions.
