Playing Movies split into separate files

Postby jowaldo on Fri Jul 02, 2004 10:53 pm

I'm trying to play some movies in HDTV format that are very large (4+ GB) and are split across multiple ones like this. I can get xlobby to play one file, but I can't get it to queue up the files, so when the first file is done playing the next will automatically start up.

I'm using zoomplayer btw.

Does anyone have experience with this?

How about a zpl file (zoom playlist file).

I just made a zpl file with 2 movies and set the path in the xlobby database and it seems to work.

zoomplayer can be setup to play file that are segmented, In zoomplayer, you need to set file masks under Values&tools>other
I use this with multi-part CDs, ie film.cd1.avi film.cd2.avi and a file mask of "cd?"
In the xlobby database you just point to the first part adn zoomplayer can pick up all the parts. You have to set xlobby to use the %file% or %parameter% and not playlist for this to work

The only problem i've had with this is xlobby can add both files into the database as seperate enteries when you refresh the database.

I'll have to try that out... I haven't had a problem yet tho with it putting it in as separate movies tho.

ok ive made .zpl files that work from windows, set this to the path in the xlobby database, and added .zpl to the file types for zoom player. Zoom player launches fullscreen when the movie is selected, but says no media loaded. Yet when I choose the .zpl file in windows, it plays correctly. Any ideas?

Guys, your trying to make this more complicated than in is.
Xlobby and zoom will handle this automatically with default settings.

In Xlobby, under file types make sure you have
/f %playlist%
for the command line switches

Then for your movies database, use a standard template and put all the parts of your movie in the same folder

D:\data\movies\King Arthur\King.Arthur.(2004).DVDRip.AC3.XviD-9Pass.CD1.anythingyouLike.avi
D:\data\movies\King Arthur\King.Arthur.(2004).DVDRip.AC3.XviD-9Pass.CD2.anythingyouLike.avi

as long as the parts have the same name, and only the CDx bit changes, incrementing in the right order, your parts will get queued up correctly.

Xlobby will then class the movie as 1 film with a parameter of
D:\data\movies\King Arthur

On launching ZoomPlayer each part is automatically queued up and played, no settings need to be changed from standard.

really????? i seem to remember a while back someone stating they all had to be in serperate directories............
now i gotta go back down to the theater and see if this works :D thanks!

that will be much easier........and i just figgured out that my .zpl's probably arent working because i made the links relative....anyways this is better
