client dies immediately after starting

i've built some screens and have xlobby running on my server. i tried starting xlobby2sd.exe on another machine on my network. it see a window briefly that says 'xlobby client' but it stops running almost immediately (the window closes). i check taskmgr, there is no xlobby2sd.exe process (although i do see it briefly after i double click it).

so i blew away my server install of xlobby and reinstalled fresh & restarted it because i read on the forums the client may not work w/ some screens/etc. restarted the client, exact same thing - it closes almost immediately. i have .net 2.0 on the server (of course since the server runs) and on the other pc since i tried xlobby on that machine first.

i tried to run xlobby2sd.exe on the server machine. same thing, brief flash of the window but it immediately closes. i know the server's running because if i close the server or misconfigure the server address in the servers.txt file, the client complains it can't find the server.

not sure what to do now, i have the default install of xlobby2 running in server mode with the default skin and i'm not able to start the client on the server machine or 2 other machines.

i'm running win2k sp4 on all machines. any suggestions to help me get me past this? thanks!

this answer ( http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... c&start=15 ) helped solve my problem. any chance xlobby can have its communication port configurable?

i have a networkable kenwood vrs-n8100 amp and kenwood's software uses port 8000.
