Problem with compilation CDs

Postby timtoth on Tue Nov 27, 2007 4:57 am

I have been using XLobby for a few years now. I just bought a new Vista PC and now XL is not handling compilation CDs properly. Every compilation CD now shows up as individual albums for each song (12 songs on the CD = 12 CDs displayed). This did not happen in any of my previous installs.

I am using the last free release (Feb 07). My compilation CDs are tagged as Various under Album Artist (I think...).

Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it?

Thanks!

Vista is not your problem. I have the same problem on XP. Since yesterday. I'm still looking for a solution. please let me know if you've found it.

Anybody out there able to offer a suggestion? I don't see anything in any of the configuration options that effects how compilation CDs are displayed...

I think you may be importing as Artist>Album possibly. Check the music template at F2\Databases\Import\.

Is your Import Type=id3? Is your ID3 Options set to "Album"? If Xlobby is set like that then the problem is probably in your ID3 tags.

The only other thing I can think to check is the database sort order (F2\Databases\Music\Edit\SortOrder) but that should only affect the sort of the data not the actual nodes of the xml. Can you check your database and see if the tracks for the compilation CD are showing up as individual items in the database or are they grouped under a single node (ie Various Artists\CompCD 1)?

good luck,

Re-installing XLobby fixed the problem for me with the compilation cd's.
I started with the first prerelease and then updated three or four times: pre14, xlobby2main, aug06, nov06 and finally 220607. I learned this some where, probably on this forum, but i don't remember.

btw: prior to reinstalling, i spend hours trying to fix it, but xl didn't seem interested in cooperating. reinstalling is not my standard solution, but it worked.

good luck and save your skin
