XoapWeather 1.1

Xlobby plugin development

This is wilt the configuration of 6 days.

Any ideas? the XML tags all look good (mostly copy pastes with a change to the day parameter.)

Looks like the weather xml feed is only providing nighttime forcasts for days 0 and 1, i don't think there is anything the plugin can do about it.

Looking at the code, it looks like there is a max limit of 5 days coded for the detail forcasts.

Thanks for looking at the code. I don't have C# so there isn't anything I can do about the plug-in

I did look at the HTTP request on the first page and it looks like the maximum return is 7 days

http://xoap.weather.com/weather/local/U ... f=7&dayd=7

Anything higher returns an error. Seems odd for the sample to go for a 5 day forcast and then only return 4 days? I guess I could modify the skin to only show 4 days, unless the plugin gets changed.

I just started using Xlobby and love the xoapweather plugin! I am using Colby's skin and have the plugin working properly but I can't figure out how to get the radar to show my local area... the only choices from the dropdown menu are of large areas (ex. Southeast). How can I modify the radar screen?

Thanks

I think if you go to weather.com and find the radar image you want and right-click on the radar image and select copy image location from the menu (using firefox not sure about IE) and paste that url in the radar combo box in the plugin configuration it should work.

Very slow response time, Please help

Postby e268 on Mon Feb 28, 2005 11:14 pm

I am using Baddabin's HeavymetalX skin together with this xoapweather 1.1 plugin. It has been working great for a few days. But, today, no matter what I did, XL fires up with Please Wait... at the splash screen, and nothing happens. After much fooling around, reinstalling everything, same thing. So, I deleted the weather plugins including xoapweather 1.1, and XL comes back right away, loading all the modules. Is there a problem with the link to weather.com or some other bugs? I can access weather.com with no problem, so there has to be something in my setup. Please help.

BTW, Same thing with the defualt skin. It just stalls at the splash screen. Thanks for any help.

Sloooooooooow!

Postby e268 on Tue Mar 01, 2005 1:45 am

It is only slow at the start of the splash screen (Please wait...). After maybe 10 minutes, I was able to access the weather. But, as soon as I go into Plugin to config the xoapweather, it takes another 10 minutes to make any change. Any ideas?

Do you have other network issues? Have you tried surfing weather.com through IE? Can you visit other URLS with IE without issue?

Typically load problems are cause by the old xWeather plug-in, not the xoapWeather plug-in. Try deleting the xWeather plug-in.

@alaricljs: No network problems. My tested dl speed is close to 2.6 Mbps. I can surf to weather.com with no problem using either IE or Firefox.

@BaddaBing: I deleted xweather and its behaviour is same. It just stalls at the splash screen, and also whenever I try to reconfigure xoapwheather. BTW, I really like HeavyMetalx. Thanks.

I also uninstalled the whole thing and installed it again, but problemm is same. I use adware and spybot to scan for problems, but none.

Thanks for your input. Any other suggestions.

@alaricljs: You are right. I think my cable hi-speed is causing it. This morning is fast as usual. The only difference is that yesterday and this morning certain web sites are slower. The strange part is that I was able to surf weather.com very fast. Anyway, problem solved. Thanks.

Xlobby crashes with xoapweather displayed on 2 screens

Postby SteveK on Sun Apr 03, 2005 10:58 pm

I'm using the Colby2 skin which has a Xoapweather screen. This works fine, but I also want to display the current weather on the main Xlobby startup screen.

So, I added a text box with "plugin>xoapweather>current>dayicon" to the main screen. This works fine too, except when I go to Colby's weather screen that contains all the Xoapweather information, Xlobby crashes... "An unhandled exception has occured" Invalid URI: The format of the URI could not be determined".

Any one know why Xlobby crashes when Xoapweather is used on more than 1 screen?

any chance of a screen shot of the error?

Xlobby crashes when any Xoaweather data is displayed on the main Xlobby startup screen. This happens even if the same information is not being displayed on the Weather screen

For example, create a text box on the main Xlobby screen that displays
plugin>Xoapweather>current>%temperature%

Restart Xlobby, and you will see the current temperature on the main Xlobby screen. Now, go to your Weather screen and Xlobby will crash and display this message...

An unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will be shut down immediately.

See the end of this message for details on invoking

Hi,

Has anyone tried to use xml file generated by the plugin?. I hope it was xlobby formatted but it seems not be.

Thanks.
