Premovie Manager

Help each other out

Postby Tracie on Sat Jun 26, 2004 4:30 am

Okay, just saw that link & now I'm totally hooked (downloading the free one as I type this). Would you care to share how you set that up? :D I've got TheaterTek, but not Zoomplayer if that helps at all.

I can't help you now I have to get some sleep, but I will help you later for sure, there's a good post in avsforum on how to set it up and where to get PMM. I think the link is on the first page of this post if not do a search at http://www.avsforum.com for premoviemanager.

Thanks, no big rush. I won't be able to fiddle with it this weekend anyway (as much as I'd like to).

here is a starting point, this link http://www.cinenow.com/us/vobtrailer.php3 has a few demos you can download also you can use dvdshrink and get trailers & demo straight from the dvds(better quality).

Premovie Manager

Postby Renfro on Sat Jun 26, 2004 11:51 pm

Well I now have it working with everything. If you look at my previous post just replace @movie@ with "@playlist@", make sure to include the quotes. And it should work. When I run mine it is just like being at the theater.

If you need any help let me know.

yeah that's the only way I got it to work as well, I'm glad to heard you got it
to work. The only problem I'm having is to get dts demo to play with sound, but I really haven't try that hard to get it to work.

preMovie Manager Trailers Setup

Postby BaddaBing on Sun Jun 27, 2004 8:08 am

How to Set Up Trailers in Xlobby with preMovie Manager

For those of you wanting a bit more detail

1.Launch Xlobby

2.Press the F2 key to bring up Setup

3.Go to the events tab

4.Find the MOVIES entry – there may be more than one - make sure you change them all

5.Expand the Movies entry and find the PLAYMOVIE entry.

6.Expand the PLAY MOVIE entry

7.Under the PLAY MOVIE entry modify the EXECUTE FILE entry as shown in the example below. You may need to change the paths to match your settings. The 'Execute FIle is under the 'Commands' tab under "OS".

8.If there is an “EXECUTE’ [just 'execute' NOT 'execute file']command under PLAY MOVIE delete it.

9.Open the preMovie Manager configuration utility

10.Click the “SET UP PATHS’ button and tell it where your files are

11. Configure TRIVIA (optional)

12. Configure the VIDEO OPTIONS tab as shown in the example below:

13. Read the instructions (read me file) for preMovie Manager for detailed instructions on how to customize the number of trailers and demos that are run before and after each movie.

Thanks for the guide BaddaBing. Can I ask how you have your trailers organized?

Right now I've got mine setup like this:

C:/My Videos/trailers/t1/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO
C:/My Videos/trailers/t2/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO
C:/My Videos/trailers/t3/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO

For my path in the PreMovie configuration tool I've go this:
C:/My Videos/trailers/

Things just aren't working though. I'm not getting any previes to play.

Badda Bing...

Do you mind if I put that walkthrough on the documentation section of the main xlobby site?

Hi Skicrave,

What I see is:

You are telling preMovie Manager that the trailers are in:
C:/My Videos/trailers/

But they are actually in:
C:/My Videos/trailers/t1/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO
...two subdirectories deeper...that is why PMM doesn't find them.

I think you need to do 2 things:
1) Create a common directory with no subdirectories for your trailers.
2) Give the trailer files unique names so they can all reside together.

So that your file paths would look like this:
C:/My Videos/trailers/TERMINATOR_II_TRAILER.IFO
C:/My Videos/trailers/FINDING_NEMO_TRAILER.IFO
C:/My Videos/trailers/PULP_FICTION_TRAILER.IFO

This is the way I have my trailers set up. I hope this helped!

BaddaBing,
Can you post a screenshot of that folder? I think I understand what you're saying, but I'm not real clear how you'd have all of the .ifos/.bups/.vobs named if you had a whole bunch of titles grouped into the same folder.

Tracie,
Here is the screenshot you requested. I'm using the THX/Dolby/DTS demos as intro trailers to my movies.

demo trailers link http://www.cinenow.com/us/vobtrailer.php3

PreMovie Manager randomly chooses one (or what ever number you define) and plays it before the movie.

Thanks Baddabing, I see what you did. What player are you using to play the vobs? The problem with that setup is that as of right now, TheaterTek doesn't have the ability to play vobs - it needs the full DVD structure (ifos & bups) to play it & I think that's what skicrave is trying to do (that's what I'd like to do as well). So the problem at that point becomes this - you've got 2 ifos & 2 bups for each trailer vob, & I think that they are rigid in what they can be named. So I guess the point I'm getting to is that to use TheaterTek for playback of the trailers & intros, I don't think that the file structure that you've got there would work (BICBW, so if someone knows different please correct me on this). Any thought or ideas on that?

OT: Anyone know how to download those trailers? I don't seem to be able to.
