DVDFabDecrypter

Xlobby plugin development

DVDFabDecrypter

Postby cygnusaa on Mon Mar 12, 2007 7:50 am

Is anyone interested in writing a plugin for DVDFabDecrypter?

Ive been using it with great success and I would like it to be more integrated with XL. Similar to the CDex plugin.

I know that there is a DVD Decrypter plugin already but if I'm not mistaken, DVDFabDecrypter and DVDDecrypter are different programs.

Can anyone shed light on this? Or perhaps are interested in writing the plugin?

DVD Decrypter is a great program but the Author was forced into shutting it down. DVD Decrypter could be controled with command line switches providing some communication from other software, Xlobby, etc.. DVD decrypter does not support some of the new protection schemes on DVD's, so some new movies will not work. DVDFabDecrypter seems to work with any DVD, but I beleive on the new versions has no command line switches or any other simple way to communicate with it.

We would like to integrate this into xlobby, I have E-mailed the author several times with no response.

We will dedicate more time on this in the future as everyone knows this is a touchy area.

if you already have dvd decrypter (which you can still find if not) then you can use ripitforme to make up for the lack of updates on dvd decrypter.

wes: thanks for looking into it. i tried "integrating" it into a screen using xmovewindow plugin but the classname for it has duplicates within the program so whenever i try to do it, i get a random window (like a hidden console) rather than the main dvdfabdecrypter interface. i figure if there wasnt a plugin then i could kind of fake it lol....nope

fredw: i have a copy of dvddecrypter somewhere...how would ripitforme help me? is it an add-on to dvddecrypter?

RipIt4Me is a standalone frontend that integrates DVDDecryptor and DVDShrink (you download both of them). RipIt will use Decryptor to rip the DVD, then it does its own schemes to get rid of the protection, then you have the option of opening it in DVDShrink to resize or do whatever. The nice thing about RipIt is that it is freeware, and the author keeps it up to date so you can rip the latest movies. I've used it to rip movies that are fresh even before the video store with whom I get movies from even put them on the shelf...its that good, and I've never had a problem with it.

If your having a problem with XMoveWindows displaying DVDFab Decryptor, then try RipIt. It may work better for that sort of application.

I thought I remember seeing this thread, here are some screen shots of the new dvd importer plugin I'm working on.
