What exactly are cat layouts?

Im just wondering, if it is possible to define your own cat layout? I went trough file structure but couldnt find files which specifies layouts, so i assume theyre not meant for users to define, but if that is indeed so, why not?

No you can't... Steven has added quite a few based on requests, but its not something you can do yourself. I think if everyone made their own it could get real messy/buggy fast. But I can't say that for Steven... i'm just assuming

However I do know you can't create one yourself for sure.
