links for XL

Can the moderators fix the links for XL downloads so beginners can find the latest XL. Now the screentest*.zip is not mentioned, only the old 1.1 version

I can modify certain parts, but that section is something only Steven has access to

ok, I hope he fixes it, cause right now when u look at the download and plugin section its a mess. A beginner cannot make out what to download and the foobar plugin download does not work

Yeah i totally agree... Any new ones coming along wouldn't give it much of a chance at all by seeing just that alone.

Yeah I agree. I'm not a newbie and I still don't know which one should be used! Is xlobby2.zip not mantained anymore? Is the latest just the screentest.zip? I think there needs to be a .NET 1.1 bundle (as is) and a .NET 2.0 bundle clearly labeled on the download page. Also make sure newbies know the .NET 2.0 is the one being maintained

I've said it before, there should be a better/updated webpage dedicated to skins and plugins (I know they're there but poorly organized), and even one for the main files. Something like how Nullsoft has organized Winamp related stuff (and most other websites), but it doesn't even need to be that well defined. A plugin page with a links to download and to a forum post about the particular plugin selected would be great. The skins page is getting more organized though with greater content available.

It just looks as though those pages currently are lacking the content that you can potentially access if you go to the forum sections and look through hours of posts.

The other thing I have noticed maybe if people had a better way of getting things onto the Xlobby server (an indicated known individual per say to send skins and plugins to), this could help cut down on the dead links to some potentially great stuff that can be found in the forums. I've just found that some of the earlier workings are now lost and this would be a way to preserve some great contributions.

Steven should think about offloading the web design to some volunteer here, this way he can concentrate more on Xlobby. He could still have an overall say as to how the website would look, but it would be one less time consuming thing for him to worry about.

Just a thought :)
