Another noob question

Postby jnd53 on Fri Jan 19, 2007 5:49 pm

Can some one please tell me how to associate a button to an event, for example I am using Baddabing's Metal TC skin and I would like to change the volume up and down to my Receiver in the movies screen. I purchased the Usbuirt and have added a new device, learned the IR codes. I am not sure where to start with associating the buttons now. Thanks JD

Read:
To understand the different commands - http://www.xlobby.incolby.com/EventVariableSheet2.htm

Press F2 to open the setup page, goto the Events tab. All events and commands for any skin are defined there. Add a "New" event under the skins title. Select your command the add that to the selected event.

Especially the Event section to understand how to associate your newly created event to a button.

Basically close setup, then press Pause/Break to open the skin editor. Select the button you want to associate your event to. Select the Event tab in the editor, then click the assign button for one of the cases (clicking the button is the usual). Find and select your event for the window that opens. Close the skin editor and your button should now execute the event when pressing it.

View other peoples skins to see how they have done it. Buddabing's KISS is excellent for the beginner, as well as Colby's and Steven's default skin.

Hope this helps.
