Girder and Xlobby

Postby PiDD on Sun Jun 06, 2004 7:48 pm

I have just upgraqded from an OLD version of Xlobby and WOW have things changed!! Great job guys. The Colby skin ROCKS!!

I have a question about getting Girder to work with Xlobby.

I have a bunch of commands in Girder tested and working fine when tested in Girder .. no probs there.

I created a new button in Xlobby .. say Volume up. How do I get that button to execute a Girder command?

Do you have input devices enabled in girder (GIRDER, file->enabel input devices)?

Create a new event, select Girder Event in the commands tab, and put a descriptive name in the Event String box (VolumeUp, say). In Girder, select the event you want to trigger, and change the dropdown next to Learn Event from All to Girder Event. Now when you press Learn Event, a dialog will pop up asking for a commandline event - just enter the name you used in XLobby, and away you go.

Works for me.

This nails the Girder end of things .. I already have the Girder commands all done and tested (from my old Xlobby version).

just enter the name you used in XLobby, and away you go.

Can you expand on this. I have created a new button... how do I configure Xlobby to trigger a Girder event.

Sorry if Im not being clear.

If you can't find a solution,
you can use the plugin by badubo, it's working very well and is very easy to use it .
the post http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1565

here you can find a french tutorial but there are a lot of sceenshots.

Step by Step

In XLobby
Press F2 to open the Setup dialog
Select the Event Manager tab
Select an existing group for your new command, or create a new one with the Add Group button (put it in the SKIN folder so you can export it with your skin)
Press Add Event
Click on the New Event to rename it
Select the Commands tab
Expand the girder command, and select send girder message
Type in an Event String (say, VolumeUp) don't use any spaces
Press Add
Close the Setup dialog

Open the skin editor and select your button
select the button tab, then the event tab.
press assign, and choose the event you just created.
Close the skin editor

In Girder
Select the command or multigroup you want to trigger
Next to the Learn Event button is a dropdown for the event type - select Girder Event
When you press Learn Event, type the Event String you used in XLobby (VolumeUp, in the example) in the dialog that opens
Now when you select the command you see the Event String in the black box where you would see IR codes.
Save your Girder file and you're done.

That should do it
