Problem Importing From DVD Profiler

Postby colonelsnow on Wed May 05, 2004 1:08 pm

Has anyone successfully imported DVD profiler data into the latest Alpha release? I followed the instructions for the prior releases and can't get it to work. As I understand it the "progress bar" does not actually work, so I let it run all night and it still did not import anything.

double check your dvdprofiler paths in the database import template your old settings probably got changed. As far as I know its still working, and the progress bar doesn't work for dvdprofiler yet....but when it says "completed" and the close button becomes enabled that means the import is finished...no need to let it run over night.

Does not work for me either. Messed with it a lot. Keeps saying it only see's 2 movies. Loads instantly. But no movie data seems to be imported, unless there is a step I am missing.

EDIT: Played some more and got it to work. not exactly how, but now it seems to import and get all the movie desc. and pictures as usual.

Hmm... Well the new problem is that it wants to use the coverart from dvd profiler in addition to my own covert art in the directory. So I get two DVD covers in my movie display page, for the same movie. One lo-res, one hi-res.

Any ideas how to stop this from happening?

EDIT: Ok found out that you have to set DVD Profile Settings in Import, to "online movies".

I deleted the movie db, re-imported and that cleaned it up. Whew.

I got mine to work too. I kept checking and unchecking different boxes and finally it worked. There are several fields on the screen that are not obvious to when they need to be used.

Hopefully someone with the talent and time will come up with tutorials, including screenshots, showing how to configure everything.

Okay, I'm going to stop putting it off and start some documentation. If Xlobby changes then I'll just change the doc. Please post in the docs section under the "What would you like documented?" thread with some of the places you have had problems with the setup of Xlobby.

I'll start on Monday since I'm going to be out of town all weekend.

Thanks,
Steve

I don't appear to be getting on with this particularly well. I have tried import and 8 hours later it hadn't imported anything. I have tried a couple of combinations with no joy - is there a known way of getting this to import. I am running XLobby2 - latest version and similarly v2.2 of DVD Profiler.

I feel like I've been putting off documentation for too long now. So I created this just for you ;)

It may not be the best (I put it together kinda quick) but it should explain the process. Let me know what you think on this thread linked below, and the link to the doc is on that page too:
