menu in a category

I would like to have a menu in a catetory instead of the buttons

I created a database with the parameter :
<parameter>SCREENNAME<parameter>
I assigned to the category an event goto screen with "Screen Name" :
%CATEGORYNAME>parameter%

but it's not working :cry:

Please, Does anyone have a solution ???

It’s to create a dynamic menu and screens with not to much buttons …

It’s should be used in other applications, but I can’t tell you for the moment.

Cosworth, this will let you put literally hundreds of buttons/links in 1 screen without populating that whole screen because now, since the buttons are actually a category, you can now scroll through the buttons (just like on the movie or music category). I was stumped in creating my other skin because before, the only way I can make this work was to direct all the links of the menu category to just 1 screen.

Dgemily, can you confirm that you can direct the menu category to individual screens? Thanks. :wink:

maybe the next logical step is to have the ability to give database objects an event....so depending on which you click it will have a different effect....just an idea. I'll do it if you guys think it would be good.

C-moi did this in 5 min, just to look if it was working...

maTV is a skin for TV with 800 x 600 resolution : have a look here : this is a new version ! i also use some screens from MediaEx skin (thx Qtips)

but i have some problems with overlay and focus in overlay so my skin is without overlay (i wanna put my sreen menu in overlay and call it in each screen of XL)

when you edit a database now you will see a new tab called "advanced" this is where you will set your event. Post your results...I have not tested it much.

First small problem:
After assigning an event to a database item the setup screen takes focus and stays in front of the Db editor.

Some other problems:
It's a little unclear which commands take precedence over others. From a category screen you can now go 3 ways:
a: info screen
b: click (enter/exit) events
c: Db event

Right now if a) is used c) gets ignored (and b) ?)
If both b) & c) have events It's unclear what is done 1st.

This can get mighty complicated fast. A few words on the rules in play here would be good.
