Alphabetical Listing in Music Pages!

Postby samwar on Mon Mar 22, 2004 6:03 pm

Newbie Here!!

Can anyone help me. When I have imported my mp3 albums into xlobby, it puts them into alphabetical order. I would like to put them in track order, is there anyway to do this without having to go through each track tag and add 01,02,03 (blah blah) at the beginning of the song name?

:(

probably not. The import just reads directories with their inherent ordering?I know it sounds bad, but if you used Wmp9 with auto media management (.i,e re-write directories and filenames) might it not be possible for WMP9 to do all this work for you?

The only way that I've ever been able to do it is to precede the track names with a number, like:

01 - Song Title 1
02 - Song Title 2

etc. You should be able to setup whatever software you're using to rip to automatically do that for you. Once you get used to it, it works pretty well.

For some weird reason I am now experiencing this problem. I have XLobby 40.2 pre 14 running on my back bedroom PC and it works just fine, but when installed on my HTPC I'm getting all the album tracks showing up in alphabetical order instead of track order. I know the problem isn't with my tags as it works fine on the back bedroom PC, but I don't know what's different on the HTPC version.

There must be a setting somewhere I need to change. Anyone?

I think what you need to do is change the sort order of the music database. I have changed the sort order as below and it seems to sort fine.

tracknumber:artist:albumname:trackfilename

To change the sort order go into the setup mode F2, then select the databases tab, select the music database then press edit. The sort order is in the top left corner of the dialogue box. You may need to refresh the database to get it to show the new order but I am not certain of this.

Thanks! I'll give this a shot & report back. :D

Yup, that did the trick! Except I used artist:albumname:tracknumber:trackfilename.

Worked just fine!
