Trying to get thin client to work

Help each other out

Postby sharp_1 on Sat Feb 18, 2006 7:31 pm

The webserver doesn't work...xlobby crashes when I try to start it on the server.
Error report: XLOBBY2.exe Application has generated an exception that could not be handled. Process ID = 0xfff99f41 (-417983), Thead ID=0xfff950d9 (-438055)
Note: When I use my XP machine as the server everything works great. The only problem is my XP machine is a laptop and my ME machine is a desktop.

Ok that helps me out a bit, I dont have time right now to check if I have to do something different on an ME machine or what. I'll try to get back to you tomorrow. Definetly something is going on....you dont have a firewall on your ME machine do you? just one network card on your ME machine?

I couldnt find any other programmers having issues with networking applications on windows me at all. How long ago did you install windows me on your server? is it possible your tcp/ip protocol files got corrupted or something?

this is a speacial exe for you to try on your server, it will show a series of popup boxes...record them down...and tell me the last one you see before the crash...I dont think you will see them all and it will help me locate the bug if it is one.

How do you want me to run this file. I put it in my xLobby directory and nothing popped up or changed.

Nothing showed up when I ran this exe file, everything started as normal (no popups) and the server is still not working right.

starting the webserver with that exe should give you at least one pop up, your seeing nothing at all? and just a crash?

Maybe I'm not using the exe file properly...I just downloaded it and copied it into the xlobby directory then started xlooby from it...everything booted up like nothing had changed and there were no popups at all. Is there a special way I should be applying the exe file?

I'll have to get back to you on that...I'm pretty sure I did but that was this weekend so I will have to try it again. I tore everything down because I am making room for my HTPC in the rack.

I had a runhidden.exe file running in the background...as soon as I turned it off...BAM here come the popups.

sharp,
little OT,
runhidden should never stay open in the background, the only time it does (at least to me) is when there is something wrong with the batch file itself. I just re-red your first post in "Windows ME running batch files" where you said that your "MS DOS window sticks open after executes command", I don't know how I missed this the first time I red it  , but check your batch file see if it starts with "@echo off" and ends with exit, you can also add CLS before exit. If that won't help or you already have those commands in your file post your batch file in "Windows ME running batch files".
