Triggers from Girder to Xlobby

Postby bymyhand on Sun Jun 10, 2007 4:50 pm

Ok, this is my setup. I have remote wall units that send commands to girder. The issues is that I need to find some way for girder to trigger an event in xlobby so that I can press play, stop, change zones and so forth on my wall unit and it will activate that relative event in xlobby. But when checked out the triggers in the events category they were in pretty sad shape. The only ones that said “not done” were the IR trigger, the sendmessage trigger and the Hard Button trigger. I know the IR trigger was working because it doubled every command I entered with my remote wonder but I didn’t really know if girder could send out those specific IR commands. So I tried out the sendmessage trigger. Though, when I put in some text and tried to add it to an event xlobby crashed. So I was wondering if:

1. Is there any other way I could get girder to trigger an event in xlobby?
2. Do you know when the keyboard trigger Is going to work or how to use the sendmessage trigger?
3. Anything else that would be helpful. :)

Thanks in advance of all your help on this issue.

Sendmessage should work, that's what I do. Just specify 2 numbers and assign them to an event...

Thanks for the help, doing that didn't crash xlobby. But I also got it to work with XRemote too. Now I am trying to find how to send commands back to girder. I know in the events menu there is an option for "send event string" but I was wondering what exactly I need to put in there. Do I just put in the Macro name or some kind of path to the Macro? I tried a couple of things but I couldn’t get it to work. Just want to make sure I am on the correct path so I don’t waste time.

Thanks,

I figured it out. It doesn’t look like the send event string is working. Even with the girder event selected. So I had to use event.exe and call the girder event there. Maybe something to look into.

I am certain it works for me with last free build xlobby... (send event to girder). I just specify girder event name in xlobby.

what version of girder are you using? And your setting it to a girder event in the evnet under your action/command?

Yea I think xlobby was orginally setup to work with version 3 but I am running version 4. And don't think that works with xlobby correctly.

Aha, never tried it, I have v4 (legal) and I never used it, simply because it is different than v3 and v3 does all I need and I know how it works! :-)

Sendmessage works with Girder 4 the exact same way as it does with v3 because I am running both versions.
There are no secret methods. You just need to read the girder docs on how to implement it.
