help adding screenshots to a screen

Postby Vintage1945 on Wed Apr 20, 2005 8:35 am

hi all --

i am using colby skin 2 and need some assistance with setting up my nes/snes screens

I must not be getting this variable thing, cause i havent figured this out yet.

I have my games db and it displays the games and their respective boxarts just fine. The problem is trying to get the screenshots i have to show up when mousing over a game. There is a box in the supernes screen that is made for screenshots but i have tried forever to get it to work and cant.

here is how the directory is setup: c:\snes\screens
I created a new db named: snes_screens

Now i can manually add these shots through the db manager, but i know there is an easier way. I just don't know how to link the %display% name to the new db (snes_screens) and have it show up in the screens box in the supernes screen.

All the screenshots are named the same as the game files.

Any ideas?

Thanks All!

1945,

Did you try moving your screens into the skin folder and using the display as a variable for Skin://Colbyskin2/Screens/%display%.jpg
in a new db field?

I dont know if that will work; I didnt know you could link databases together, like youre trying to do.

IF you make a second database of screenshots then you could create and event to show the %variable% upon enter of the item. But that could be just as much work.

Or It seems to me you might be able to set up a metamask to import these screens automatically as you build your game db.

I guess the real question is how do we import 2 or more pictures for one db entry automatically? Anyone?
Intriguing I will look into it.

hmmm....we can't just use the display variable and pass it to the screenshot box?
