accessing content of variables from plugins

Got an idea, post it here

accessing content of variables from plugins

Postby badubo on Sun Apr 10, 2005 4:55 pm

Hello,

Is it be possible to add the possibility for a plugin to have access to the same variables as we can use in the text property of items in a screen (category, nowplaying, other plugins variables,...)

Thanks

I second this one.

I think Steven has to release more access to xlobby if he wants people to write more plugins. like refresh epg time. I found a way to write a plugin for this but it failed cause the epg>time is not global.....

Bump :?:

I think that using the sendcommand generic function (with the expanded variable as returned value) willbe the best way

I've added a new function to XHelper called "ConvertVariables", pass a string with variables in it.....you can use any variable you want its just like using them on a button....but it will return the actual text back with the variables replaced with their real values.

http://www.xlobby.com/xlobby2.zip

I didnt test it but something like passing

"audioplayer>now>%artist%" would return the current playing artist or

"epg>time>f" would work also now. You should be able to get to any variable that can be displayed through a specific text pattern.
