Move up one directory in database

Postby Ton_loc on Thu Apr 07, 2005 9:11 pm

Hi All,

I've finally gotten all of my music categorized the way I'd like it to be and imported properly into my music database. I can drill down into the database to get to the music I want, but I'd also like the ability to move up one directory within the database. My database looks like:

\\Genre\Sub-genre(if appplicable)\Artist\Album

When I'm down in an album I'd like the ability to move back up to the Artist level of the database. Is there a command to move up one level, to the parent directory, of the database? It was about midnight last night while I was searching for this feature, so forgive me if I overlooked something obvious.

thanks!

I just spent a couple of hours learning how to build buttons and trying to find a command that would move me up one level in the database structure. To me, it doesn't look like such a command exists within Xlobby. Does anyone have any ideas on how I might accomplish this? I like the current setup of my music server, and I really don't want to move to a completely flat directory structure. Alternately, can anyone tell me if they know that this can not be accomplished in Xlobby?

Have you tried adding a category>back and link it to the musicd db?

This is how it is done for the photos section.

No, I haven't tried adding a category>back button yet. I was actually trying out the built-in Xlobby events. I will try the category>back setup when I get home tonight.

Thanks for the help, I will let you both know how it works out for me. Also, Colby, thanks for writing your Event and Variable reference sheet. I just found it through your webiste, and it looks like it would have answered my question for me, also. Documentation is always a huge help!

That worked great. I used the info to build a Back button for my music page and not I can navigate my music like I want to. Thanks very much!
