I use foobar with ape files and it works fine with all the latest patches etc. I dont use flac and dont have a track to try.

I do remeber a change happening a few months ago that meant you had to use a certain foo_dll with the newer xlobby version, I think it also corresponds to the sdk version as well.

BTW, can I use zoomplayer to play music? I'd prefer that to winamp.

Everybody given up? Well, maybe it'll start working on its own
Till then, can I use zoomplayer for music? It seems to be working for movies.

Another note is to make sure that xlobby is the one that starts foobar. That is you can't have an existing foobar open, start xlobby and it communicate with the existing open app. If you have a foobar open then start xlobby it will NOT start another one, but won't be able to communicate with the open foobar either.

I use foobar with no problems for mp3, but don't have FLAC. I'll rip a CD to FLAC and see if I have probs.

Foobar starts with xlobby. Even shuts down when I exit. It just doesnt do the actual useful stuff, i.e. play music.

Anyways, its not bothering me so much now. I'm just thrilled to see my movies working with ZP. And I even got all the info from DVD Profiler. Just love it when things work the way they're supposed to.

Total long shot, but are you able to minimize Xlobby and see what Foobar is doing after it opens and you try to play a file. The forementioned loop I experienced a couple weeks ago featured Foobar opening with a volume of -74db. I have absolutely no idea how that setting got there, but I couldn't get a 0db volume setting to stick until I opened Xlobby (which loaded Foobar), minimized Xlobby, changed the setting in Foobar, and then closed Foobar manually (i.e. didn't let it just close with Xlobby.). Upon reload of Xlobby, all was fine.

You might try another trick related to this. Open Xlobby, let it load Foobar, minimize Xlobby, maximize Foobar and manually load a song file. Play the song and if you get sound, stop it, and then manually close Foobar. Make sure no other instances of Foobar are open and then restart Xlobby.

What!?! Come on! Who's the master of the software!?!

Well I ripped a CD to FLAC and added it to my music collection. I was able to play flac,mp3 all mixed in a playlist with no problems through foobar.

It seems that your issue is definitely in the communication of xlobby and foobar which is through the plugin. I noticed in the foobar installation directory there is a 'playlists' directory also. In there I have "000000000 - Default" file. Maybe try deleting that...dunno. I do recall that I had some issue with foobar not playing awhile back. I just reinstalled foobar and solved the problem (and added xlobby plugin) -- could have been the problem rembetis is referring to.

Here are the version of the files I have

XPluginSDK.dll 1.0.2020.31144
msvcr71.dll 7.10.3052.4
foo_xlobby.dll. -- No version but what came with the prerelease.

Yeah I know that "works the way it's supposed to" feeling. Although foobar should be in that list! :D

It Worked!! It Worked!!

I deleted the "000000000 - Default" file from foobar playlist dir. Now why the heck it was causing problems, I don't know, and simply don't care.

Ahhhhhh, byebye winamp. Foobar and Zoomplayer ready to rock the house!

Who's next? - Girder!

Girder and xlobby, just install girder and a usbuirt and then use xremote to creat the gml. Learn the buttons from your remote to the new gml.

Easy :?

Yes!! 8) Glad to hear it. I also don't know why or care. :) I had noticed that file getting jacked yesterday when I was playing around testing your situation. I was adding songs to foobar inside the foobar that was started by xlobby. Also did closing of foobar with xlobby still running etc. I then noticed songs not getting to the playlist in foobar etc. That's when I deleted that file and mine was back on track.

I had the same problem of foobar2000 not working, and it was driving me crazy because I had it working in Xlobby on another PC. Deleting this file solved the problem :D

Amazingly I had the same problem again and deleting that playlist file didn't help. After a little experimentation, it seems that the problem is the UI specified in foobar. Like many others, I'm sure, I'd been playing around with foobar and using the Column UI, rather than the default UI (set under Preferences/Display in foobar).

At least in my case, Xlobby only works if the foobar UI is the default one; it doesn't work if the Column UI is selected.
