WINAMP Chaos

Postby csvencer on Tue Aug 08, 2006 1:03 pm

Well not complete chaos just stupid and annoying. I have been able to set up Xlobby to work perfectly, but only half of the time. Sometimes when I boot it up everything works fine except the music, it starts to play the track, puts its cover up in the top left and then puts 0:00/0:00 in the time of the track area. And nothing happens. It doesn't send it to Winamp either (I ctrl tabbed over to winamp and saw nothing). Sometimes all I need is a quick reboot of xlobby, sometimes an entire system reboot, and sometimes just crossing my fingers seems to work. Any suggestions why it is so touchy??? Thanks.

Version:
1.0.2403.37773

Should I get the experimental version?

I'd say try it. It's 1.0.2407.42122 unless it changed again this morning.
I guess you know that you can get the latest EXP via F2 >Download.
You can always go back.

Another thing that I did (not sure it was necessary) was to do a Winamp install in a subfolder within XLobby. I use the latest Winamp build, 5.24.

Winamp 2.x and 5x work. 3.x does not work and I don't think there was a 4.x??

The problem was that with a few XL builds, XL lost Winamp focus.

Well I went and installed the newest file and also switched the winamp over to xlobby/winamp but still no luck. Anything else I should try?

Thanks.

It may not even be a Winamp issue, but a database issue (Winamp not working is the end result). Make sure that your database is not corrupt somehow. Verify your tags, and file names. Delete the exiting database and re-import.

Just a thought.

Hope it helps

Yup. It is definetly not WinAmp's fault. I just reinstalled it twice and then tried Foobar, all with no good results. I will try a new database.

Marbles is right. I had a scrambled import yesterday. My MP3 db was OK but my Shoutcast and another db got screwed up on the way to a fat client.

I deleted them, let the client reimport and all was well again. The same could happen to the server or standalone XL PC.

Winamp not working for me either....

Postby fizzasist on Mon Sep 18, 2006 12:50 am

I can't get winamp to work with XL either.

Trying a 5.24 install of WA right now but when I open up some music it does not even pull up winamp.

Can someone walk me thru what to do under "file types" to get WA working please?

Thanks!

You shouldn't have to define anything under the File Types tab in order for Winamp (or Foobar for that matter) to work. You only need to define its location under the General/Foobar/Winamp Zone box. Version 5.24 should work no problems.

If your still having problems, verify that your database is set up correctly.

I should also add that if Winamp does not close down properly in between Xlobby sessions, you will not be able to control it the next time you start Xlobby. Close down xlobby and check your computer processing tasks. Make sure you close any references to winamp, then restart Xlobby, you should be good to go.
