Xlobby is pointing Foobar in the wrong direction

Help each other out

Xlobby is pointing Foobar in the wrong direction

Postby namlet on Sun Oct 31, 2004 4:51 pm

When I try to play any music, Foobar's console screen pops up and says:

Error trying to open file: C:/Program Files/Foobar/M

That's not the file. My music is in the M: drive, so maybe it is confused?? The music screen shows all my music with cover art and everything, so how is this info getting lost on the way to Foobar?

Thanks for any help.

I dont use foobar, but I was wondering:

Did you add foobar.exe to the winamp/foobar zone in the setup menu?

Are you music files associated with foobar in windows? Can you click and play them outside of xlobby?

What is an example of the actual parameter to the music file in the database?

foobar.exe is set in the zone and foobar opens with Xlobby.

music files open in foobar when double-clicked, and the console shows:

INFO (CORE): opening file for playback
INFO (CORE): location: "file://M:\Music\Death Cab For Cutie\Transatlanticism\04 - Expo '86.wav" (0)

when I select anything from the XLobby Music Screen, I get this from the foobar console:

INFO (CORE): opening file for playback
INFO (CORE): location: "file://C:\Program Files\foobar2000\M" (0)
ERROR (CORE): error opening file for playback

The actual database entry for this song has this in the file field:
M:\Music\Death Cab For Cutie\Transatlanticism\04 - Expo '86.wav

Think it is appending the exe location before sending the file location? Maybe it stops after the third colon is sent?

Thanks for your help.

Can anyone help?

did you try with winamp to know if your problem is from foobar or your database or your settings.
(your music category must be not assigned to an event), and how did you build your database ? can you post a part of your database....

later.

I have not tried WinAMp as I don't have it, but I can download and try it.

My database was built by XLobby, I just pointed it at my music directory. And eveything I looked at in there looks good. You want a post of a portion of the raw XML file?

There are a couple of things I would try,
1st what skin are you using?
2nd is the foobar plugin correctly installed.

I would add an event with command category execute to the music category. Since you have foobar as your win default player. Your database parameters looks fine as far as I can tell.

it should be ok, if the database is build by Xlobby, but you can post a portion...

- like Colby said, What skin are you using ?
- Try with winamp and let us know...
- did your category are assigned to an event? if yes which one ?

I'm using foobar, my database is built by xlobby and I don't use any event assigned to my category...

the basic skin, I haven't had time to customize since I can't even use it yet.

I don't even know how to assign an event or create a category. Not to say I couldn't figure it out, but again, I'm not going to take the time unless I can get music to play.

The foobar plugin seems to be fine. I have tried completely reinstalling foobar and xlobby. like i said, it sends the command to Foobar, but it sends the wrong path. What part of the program is responsible for sending the path to the player??

I think that your database is no good. first, try with winamp to know if it's working with it

look at your database music, in the repertory databases of xlobby, edit it and look the line <parameter>.............<parmeter> you should see your track audio with the path...

here is a portion of my database music.xml
Code: Select all
.............
 <item>
 <parameter>D:\MUSIC\Rock Francais\Telephone\1982 - Dure limite</parameter>
 <coverart>D:\MUSIC\Rock Francais\Telephone\1982 - Dure limite\téléphone  dure limite front-cover.jpg</coverart>
 <display>Téléphone / Dure limite</display>
 <type>album</type>
 <subitems>
  <item>
  <parameter>D:\MUSIC\Rock Francais\Telephone\1982 - Dure limite\01   Dure limite.mp3</parameter>
  <display>Dure limite</display>
  <type>track</type>
  <information>
   <tracknumber>001</tracknumber>
   <trackname>Dure limite</trackname>
   <trackfilename>01   Dure limite.mp3</trackfilename>
   <artist>Téléphone</artist>
  </information>
  </item>
  <item>
  <parameter>D:\MUSIC\Rock Francais\Telephone\1982 - Dure limite\02   Ca (C&apos;est vraiment toi).mp3</parameter>
  <display>Ca (C&apos;est vraiment toi)</display>
  <type>track</type>
  <information>
   <tracknumber>002</tracknumber>
   <trackname>Ca (C&apos;est vraiment toi)</trackname>
   <trackfilename>02   Ca (C&apos;est vraiment toi).mp3</trackfilename>
   <artist>Téléphone</artist>
  </information>
  </item>
....
