You are absolutely correct in general, but in this particular case 777 can be fully controlled frm RS232, aka Pause, stop, urn off, next DVD etc can be accessed from the free control app. I'll post codes soon.

Thanks galileo2000, I am looking forward to getting the control codes from you. Have you looked into rs232 control codes for receivers...I wonder if there is a place where guys are sharing there rs232 code work??? Have you found anything like that?

Check out the RS-232 Plugin Thread. I think the vast majority of people using PCs to control their recievers do so with Girder and the Girder download section has a subsection called "Serial Settings" where some have stored the necessary files.

Good luck, though. Girder ain't no picnic... (and I personally have so far been stymied getting the last free version to control my HK AVR-635).

Of course you need to replace "d:\777" with your path.

In order to use those from Xlobby, you need to create buttons and assign events. Or just make batch files and doble-click to execute.

Are you finding out that some DVD's start on different titles and chapters? A good example is Monster's Inc...I can't get it to start without going thru all the trailers. I tried changing chapters but no luck, some of them I have been able to modify title and chapter numbers in order to get the movies to play without opening trailers.

Glad to see this is getting covered. I have the 777 too. It seems like a better way to have movies than to store them on the HD. DVDR's are about $.20 for 4.7G which is about $.04 a gig. A hard drive is about $.50 per gig. This does not include the heat/stress and maintenance the additional HDs will require. When I get time I will let you know if I have any luck. Maybe soon we will see a plug-in made for XL. Keep up the good work!

The 777 is a cheaper way to store movies in a one zone media setup, but it is NOT a better way. Some cons: longer load time, player subject to mechanical failure, only one zone can use it at a time, no PC processing

Ouch... $1300 will buy lots of HD space... Maybe not enough to store 400 movies, but I think I'll have to pass.
