You are absolutely correct in general, but in this particular case 777 can be fully controlled frm RS232, aka Pause, stop, urn off, next DVD etc can be accessed from the free control app. I'll post codes soon.

Thanks galileo2000, I am looking forward to getting the control codes from you. Have you looked into rs232 control codes for receivers...I wonder if there is a place where guys are sharing there rs232 code work??? Have you found anything like that?

Check out the RS-232 Plugin Thread. I think the vast majority of people using PCs to control their recievers do so with Girder and the Girder download section has a subsection called "Serial Settings" where some have stored the necessary files.
Good luck, though. Girder ain't no picnic... (and I personally have so far been stymied getting the last free version to control my HK AVR-635).
