Adding Music Videos to Xlobby

Postby damono on Wed Aug 03, 2005 2:38 pm

Hello there,

I've just jumped on the Xlobby bandwagon using Colby's skin (bloody great) on a Dedicated jukebox with touchscreen and remote. The problem is that I can't seem to get the music videos to scan and show up. I am doing this under the video tab, but I dont think this is the right place.

How to i get my music video clips to show up and play? At the moment they are just in X:\videos\XXXX.avi etc..

Cheers

You need to first create a database for your music videos to show up in Xlobby. To play these videos you need to define an action for avi files in the file -type section of your setup screen.

If you don't understand the above statements, please read the online guides/skinning tutorials that some users have written.

i got video clips to play by chopping some code from other places. BTW im using ColbySkin V2 (awesome skin if i can get it working how i want)

What i want is a graphical view like you have on the album selection screen (like a 4x4 rows view of clips) so when you click on the clip it plays in a window covering a part of the main screen, but opens up the video clip in fullscreen on the 2nd monitor (my TV)

I can get the clips to play in Movie view using that template where it shows a cover and a IMDB listing (obviously blank tho) and then have to click again on play movie to play the clip which then shows up on the TV using zoomplayer. And also by using the music template i can have the videos display in a 4x4 screen (which is what i want), but when clicked on, they dont open zoom player

Any ideas?

As I said earlier, you need to create a new database of your music videos. Do you know how to create a new database ?

To answer your second question, you have to define your default application for avi files in the file-type tab of the setup. So that when you click on your avi music video, zp is launched.

I strongly suggest that you read the skinning guide and basic tutorials to learn how to use Xlobby.

You may have to make sure your avi file extension is in your import template upon creation of database. Video is actually for movies but could work for your scenerio, although I would advise creating a custom database and category for music videos, since there is no trailers or anything and they are all online.

I suggest reading docs also. If the documents are not helpful come back here and I can give you a step by step on how to set up your custom video page. Its not that difficult.
