Xlobby configuration to watch movies- HELP!!!

Postby deborah on Thu Jun 24, 2004 9:02 am

I've told Xlobby which is the right path where I Stored my movies. Now I've 2 problems!

1) Where do I have to store the pictures of the movies? Inside the Video_ts folder? And from which site can I download them?
2) When I click the button of the relevant movie, Theatretek starts, but the movies is not loaded. What could it be? My OS is in E: Is this the problem?

Thanks for your help!

Deborah.

Deborah,

1 - I get most of my covers from buy.com. They are better than amazon.
The built in spiders in xlobby work quite well and they save into the
correct directory.

2 - I do not use TT but there is an entire 4 page post about it either in the
bugs section OR announcement.

Regards
Simon.

PS I think the covers are supposed to go with the folder that has the vob files in it. All mine are avi's so i dump the inamge in with the avi.

Hi Deborah,

I have a main movie directory under which I store all my movies in directories named after them. For example

Movies\Alien\VIDEO_TS
Movies\Austin Powers\VIDEO_TS

The VIDEO_TS directory is where all the vob, ifo etc files go. Place the movie cover pictures in the MOVIENAME directory NOT the VIDEO_TS directory, and ensure that you point XLobby to the movies directory or whatever you have chosen to call it.

Once you've done that you may have to refresh your movies database, or if that doesn't work, delete your movies database, and then refresh, in order to see your cover pictures. (shout out if you don't know how to do this).

It might be a good idea to get this issue sorted first because it MAY have some impact on your second problem.....just a guess. If XLobby can find and display your movies correctly it eliminates one possible cause.

Good luck!

Just out of curiosity & maybe a dumb question, but did you set up TheaterTek as your DVD player?

OK for the first question: now I can see the picture of my movies, thanks Twit and Roscoe62! Tracie, TT is my DVD player.

But I'm still not able to watch movies! :? Here what happens:

if I click the picture of the movie that I want to see and I press play, TT starts but no movies play.
if I do the same procedure when a DVD is inside the DVDrom, TT starts playing THAT DVD and not the one that I've selected in Xlobby.

This is driving me crazy!!!

:x

Deborah,

First you need to check how you've configured Theatertek to work.

From the XLobby main menu, Hit F2 to open the configuration page. Then click on the File Types tab. Can you describe what you've got showing there?

Because I only use Theatertek, I have deleted the other programs showing so that Theatertek is the only program showing. Doing this will remove any conflicts that can happen there. Also, if you click on the Theatertek line, the Enabled box on the right hand side should be ticked. If it's not then tick it. Doing these 2 things should sort out any issues you may have.

If it doesn't see what Extentions you have listed in the extentions box, and what you have in the Command Line Switches box, and post them here.

Good luck!

Roscoe thanks for your help.

This is what I see from the Files type tab.
There are 4 lines (all enabled) and for each one I see what follows

Program E:\Programmi\TheaterTek\TheaterTek DVD.exe
Extensions ifo,avi,iso
Switches /f %playlist%

Program E:\Programmi\TheaterTek\TheaterTek DVD.exe
Extensions ifo,iso
Switches /AP 2 /PATH %playlist%

Program E:\Programmi\TheaterTek\TheaterTek DVD.exe
Extensions ifo,avi,iso
Switches /f %playlist%

Program E:\Programmi\TheaterTek\TheaterTek DVD.exe
Extensions avi
Switches "%parameter%"

...And it still doesn't work!!! TT starts but no movies is loaded! My OS is in E, while I keep my movies in F. No other DVD player are installed on my PC!

Thanks! Deborah!

Deborah,

My guess is that you definitely DON'T NEED 4 lines! You only need one - especially since all 4 lines are pointing to Theatertek. Unfortunately I'm at work at the moment so I can't tell you which one I use, but now that you've got all the different options noted in this thread, it won't hurt you to try deleting all lines except one to see what works for you.

You might try keeping the one that says Switches /AP 2 /PATH %playlist%
first, because that sounds familiar to me. Delete all the others (make sure that the enabled box is still ticked) and try that out. If that doesn't work, try the other switch settings you have listed.

I'm sure you'll figure it out, but I'll post what settings I have when I get home if you're still having trouble.

Good luck! :D

Ross, thanks again for your answer!

I' ve followed your indications, but it still doesn' t work.
I think that after clicking the movie, I'd have to see on the resources of my pc something like a letter "M" or "Z" relevant to the drive letter for playing the movie. I don' t see this letter and I believe this is the reason why TT starts, but no movie is loaded.

Any other help? Thanks in advance!

Deborah.

Sorry for the delay Deborah,

I've just checked my setup and the line I have in the Command Line Switches box is:
/AP 2 /PATH %playlist%

I think how it works is that XLobby sends TT a "playlist" made up of the title you've selected within XLobby. You won't need to see which drive your movies are in.

The fact that TT starts indicates that XLobby knows where TT is, and is able to start it successfully but it falls over from there.

What version of TT are you using? I'm using 1.5.0.62. I believe there is a .64 patch out there now. It may pay to make sure you have the latest patch.

As far as settings go, on TT's general tab I have DMA Enabled, and it is set up as the default player. Multi-Drive is NOT enabled - I think that's an important one.

See how you go with those settings. Don't worry we'll get it sorted!

Good Luck!

Ross,

thanks for your help as usual!
I have an old version of TT (1.5.0.23). I will try to see if some friends have a newer release just to understand if this is the problem.

Thanks and bye!

deborah,
You should be able to download a patch that will bring you up to date.
