Has anyone ever tried to use xLobby on a standard desktop or laptop even? Does this need to be run on a dedicated Home Theater PC? I have not built an HTPC yet and was curious what the software would do if I was already running Windows Media Center Edition. Would it affect the way that operates? Would it override it? My desktop is running MCE, but my laptop is just running xp home edition. Would it not just be another icon on the desktop that I could choose from whenever I wanted. I just found out about xLobby this morning and I would like to try it out.

Thanks

Xlobby is just a program, not a shell. You load it just like any other program (so you can use is on a normal PC, or load it on startup when you HTPC starts). Not sure how MCE loads...is it a shell replacement to XP? Or just a program that loads on XP startup? If just a program, it shouldn't interfere with xlobby at all. Just make sure you have .Net2 installed...otherwise xlobby won't run.

EDIT
Damn...beat me to the punch
