Music will not play even with winamp installed

My movies play great but the music will not play at all. Winamp starts and i have setup xlobby according to the documentation. Any sugesstions?

Make sure you have your Winamp setup to output to the proper device. Goto the Winamps options page, scroll down to Output and then select the proper plugin, then direct that plugin to your soundcard. Somewhere it sounds like this may have been modified.

Its when i try to play music through xlobby itself there is no sound.

Xlobby seems to integrate best with Winamp versions in the high 2s (2.79 or 2.8, etc.) I don't think it works at all with version 5 and version 3 gives people problems as well. So make sure you're using Winamp 2.

Installed winamp 2.8 and still no music. Are there any other settings in xlobby to configure for music?

1 Winamp loads w/Xlobby Correct?
2 Winamp plays music outside of xlobby correct?
3 If you play an mp3 outside of xlobby, close Winamp and restart XL, Playing the exact same file does not play?
4 If you load a playlist of 2 songs or more, then minimize Xlobby (Alt+Tab) then look at winamp playlist, are the 2 tracks there? (only 2 tracks will show up no matter how many you load)
5 Do all of the XL music controls work even without sound, ie. ff, rew, shuffle, etc.?

I'm using the newest version of Winamp 5.2 and xlobby music works okay. Maybe the skin you are using is outputing the wrong volume setting to winamp. Have you tried a different skin ? People have had problems with xlobby/winamp when winamp was installed in a directory name with a space. I had that problem with Foobar. In fact I had the same problem you are having when I was using foobar. See second page of post here :

I had to make sure the that Foobar was in the xlobby directory and had the plugin dll's installed. You may want to install a separate copy of winamp in the xlobby directory and set both winamps for multiple instances so Xlobby has it very own copy to run and other programs do not use it.

6. Are the files showing up in xlobby's playlist?
7. What are the file extensions for the music?
8. Is your xlobby.exe most current? (f2- Download- green dots etc.)
Mine is feb 23 in the about tab
9. Does your xlobby xml in the xlobby directory have something like this at the bottom?

You may also try putting winamp in the same directory as xlobby.
