Problems with importing video files

Postby Gizzmo on Tue May 09, 2006 6:10 pm

Hi,

i am new to the front end issue and i am testing xlobby since today.
Until now i like it very much, but i have some problems getting it
working like it should.

Audio now plays fine, importing of the music and the photos worked
fine, but the importing of videofiles doesn't work. I have mainly ts
files on my hdd, but also normal mpg, mpeg, avi, wmv etc files aren't
found by xlobby.

Is there a special point which i could have forgotten ?

I used the guides which i found around here and in the german forum
and i also tried to find something suitbable in the forum, but i didn't
find something. So please, if there is a thread direct me to it ... :D

did you check to see if anything is going into the database? It could possibly be something going on with the skin that its not showing anything, making it look like something didn't get imported correctly.

If you hit f2 then go to the databases tab, do you have a movies db listed? If so, highlight it and hit edit. Anything showing up there?

If you don't have either of those, click the import tab at the top under the databases section.. and try playing around with the settings in there.. From that screen you can have more manual control over how it imports files... it can be extremely powerful with metamasks and etc..

Let me know what you find, and hopefully I can help out some more

thanks for answering so fast, i will check your tips.

After every trying of importation i looked in my movie part, but there
is nothing if i have a only .ts folder. When i take my main drive i get
some files, but some are pics and only 2 or 3 movies. But there should
be much more ...

I am trying to use the fiber-carbon skin from Baddabing's from here
http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3346

Until now i tried the importing from the "Basic" page, here sometimes
deleting the DB, because i read in some topics that it could happen
the DB gets damaged.

I try the "Database" page and will report, thanks so far ... :D

yeah if you use the database tab and check what you have or don't have in there already, and try to do a more manual import, you can get it to import any type of file you want.

You will have to add .ts as an extention for the movie template, as it is not there by default.

did you put anything in the "import to db" box?

If you don't have a movies DB listed there already, type movies in the "new DB" box, click Add, then make sure movies is selected in "import to DB"

Now if your paths and extentions are all in correctly, it should work.

If it still doesn't work, how do you have your files and folder structure set up for all your videos?

thanks so much, i got it :D

I do not really know which changes did it, but maybe selecting another
database than movie and than getting back to movies did it ...

Now he found every .ts file i was searching for and i can play it in
TT. So far everything is working, i got a little more in the skin editor
usage and now i am trying to import a database from DVD Profiler 8)
