Different events triggered depending on current screen

Got an idea, post it here

Different events triggered depending on current screen

Postby timwarner on Sun Mar 13, 2005 11:03 pm

I think it would be useful to have same command from the same remote control do different things depending on the current screen.

e.g. If xlobby was on a music screen it would play music, if it was on a picture screen it would start a photo slideshow and if it was on a movie page it would play a movie.

Does this make sense

I would love to have a way to do this

This is already acheaved by the "pack_remote" from the french xlobby team.

This pack create a girder gml file (command file) to activate/desactivate the keys depending on the screen which is displayed.

A very very handy feature.

Actually there is no documentation in english.

Best regards

We have, on the French forum, a remote pack built by sonata using girder2xlobby.
The pack builds a gml and gives you the possibility to use the same button for different actions depending of the screen where you are.
There are some obligations to use this pack:
- Your event should be regrouped by screen (one eventgroup by screen)
- Your overlay should be named like ”overlay_name”

There is documentation about this pack but it’s in French….
medi@box is finishing a skin using the remote pack. This skin will be posted with the gml and the remote_pack, so with this skin it will be easier to understand how to use this pack and what the gml can do…

later

I'll give this a try as well, luckily my french comprehension isn't bad...
I'm constantly amazed about how much is going on in the french
Xlobby scene. I'm going to have to start monitoring those forums
more closely.

I'd say it would still be preferable for this to be integrated directly into
Xlobby. Otherwise, I don't see any point in having an XL USBUIRT
plugin.

Either someone will write a plugin, or there's always Girder...

French Remote Pack

Postby timwarner on Wed Mar 16, 2005 1:36 pm

Hi

I have had a look at the remote pack documentation but as I don't speak french it is quite difficult. Is the following correct or have I misunderstood it?

To achieve what I want (same IR command to trigger different event depending on current screen) I think I need to use the enablegroup and disablegroup events. I would need to set up my events in groups, 1 group for each screen then as the enter and exit events for each screen would be enable ....... event group and disable ........ event group.

Are these events available in the zip to extract on there own because I don't think I need any the girder features and I would rather not overcomplicate things.

What are the other features of this pack involving IR commands

When you create the skin, you must respect some rules : if these rules are respected, FinalyzeGirder2Xlobby.exe (in the pack) will create the .gml automatically : you have to assign the commands of the remote in the .gml
You can try this pack with this skin !
http://forums.studio-biorythm.com/index ... topic=1046
made by Medi@box ! This skin use many of the plugins from the french team (Xevent, XMoveWindow, Xradio, XMpc, XLTV, Xant ...)
The .gml is for ATI remote wonder 1 (i don't know if the remote 2 is supported) I have this skin on my xl box and it's rocks !

just wanted to say this should be possible now, but there is a catch...the command must be present on that screen. So you have multiple commands with the same trigger right, xlobby will first check the actual screen for commands that have that trigger...so making a hidden button with the command you want would do it. At least thats how I remember it worked.

Cool! Thanks Steven, I'll give this a try.

Two questions.
1. If I add a hidden button to the Movies page (or whatever page you're
on when ZP/TT is launched) will this allow me to control ZP/TT?

2. If I launch a movie from my PPC, the XL server will still be sitting on
the main menu page. Is there a way to force the server to switch to a
specific page using the PPC? I seem to recall the client-server mimic
feature doesn't work yet.

Could I get some clarification on this method please?
Say I want the "Play" button on my remote to play music while I'm in the music page, in order for the "Play" button to work for my movies page I also need to have the music play command on that screen, but only hidden? :?
Thanks for the help
