**EDIT: RESOLVED -- SPIDER ISSUES

Postby bsteed on Thu Jan 29, 2009 11:34 am

Ok, please forgive me for still using v2, but I already have a HTCP and you can't buy XL3 as standalone. Now that I have gotten that out of the way, I'd like to see if there is still anyone around that uses version 2. If so, perhaps you could assist me with some problems I'm having.

I have recently re-skinned the default skin. I am trying to make is as unique to me as possible, but it's still one of my first XL Projects. It is entirely movie based from my DVD collection. There is no music, weather, etc. I've attached some screenshots for you all to laugh at (cut me some slack). I'm not done yet, a few more buttons to make and bugs to solve, but here's where I am at...

THE PROBLEM:
My spiders do not work. I cannot get plots, cast info, years, etc. I have probably read every search result on Yahoo about 3 times, and I still cannot seem to figure out the problem. I've tried downloading xANT/ANT, and cannot get the two to funtion together. I may be missing something, but I am at a halt. I have no idea what to do now.

I really would like to chat with an experienced 2 developer if any are willing. I will be making my entire project openly available to the public once it is finished. :D

I really don't know much about how the spiders work, but this thread helped me to get the IMDB spider working.

Look in your xlobby directory for a folder called spiders, and then for the different .txt files.

Replace the imdb.txt file with the new information from the above post.

I wish I knew more..... :(

Hey bud, thanks for the reply. Yes, I am aware of all that. I actually got it working someone from that post, but only the cover art (which I don't need), as I find high res pictures, and place them in the folder with the movie file itself.

Still open for suggestions though... I want to see the information that is pulled from IMDB - Plot, Year, Genre, etc. I have no use for IMDB's horrible renditions of cover art. Simply terrible! :D
