Add skip forward & skip back commands

Postby Roscoe62 on Thu Jun 24, 2004 8:06 pm

Title explains it. Winamp has a set of commands allowing you to skip forward or backward by 5 seconds. The hotkeys Winamp use to access them are the left and right keys, but this can't be done with XLobby in the driver's seat and currently these commands don't exist in XLobby's event manager command list.

My wife uses this feature all the time while trying to learn harmonies in songs.

Could these commands be added to the existing music commands in the event manager?

Or if anyone knows another way to access these functions I'm all ears.

Thanks
Ross

Ross, not sure if you have seen this guide already but you can do "send messages" in the event manager. For the winamp commands and the associated wparam and lparam, check out this skin guide from Chad/Colby: http://xlobby.incolby.com/SkinningXlobbya40.htm#_Message_Events

This is using Winamp 5. In it are the parameters for forwarding/rewinding in 5 second increments.

Hmmm....doesn't quite work though. Any chance those command parameters have been superceded?

Anyone know? I'm using Winamp 5.03

Seriously, I can't get this working. The send message parameters I'm using are:

Class name: Winamp
Window name: Winamp 5.0
Message: 273
wparam: 40148 lparam: 0 (for skip forward)
wparam: 40144 lparam: 0 (for skip backward)

Has anyone else managed to get these to work, OR, does anyone know whether they've changed, OR, where these parameters could be sourced from?

Any help is really appreciated!

Cheers :)

Is send message working in xlobby?

I've never used it, I do everything with girder.

Class name - Winamp5 (even though i use winamp 5.03)
Executable - winamp.exe

I tried what you are trying and it also did not work?

Later
Simon.

That's interesting. I wonder whether anyone can confirm if sendmessage is working?

In the meantime.....

So you're using Girder to send these messages to Winamp?

So my first option was to use the commands Steven has already set up for Winamp in the event manager....but there aren't any for these two commands.

So we turn to option two....using a sendmessage command to Winamp....except it doesn't seem to be working.

So now we're up to option three!! I do use Girder for some other stuff so maybe this is an option to use until 1 or 2 can be addressed.

In my case the shortcut keys are left and right. Twit, do I just send these key commands to Winamp from Girder and assign names to them so that XLobby can tell Girder what to do?

Sheesh! This is getting complicated! :)

Yeah, I checked with Girder as well. Sendmessage commands (specifically the commands I listed earlier) are working just fine within Girder, so I think sendmessage is broken within XLobby at the moment.

I've managed to get skip forward & backward working by using Girder. That'll do for the moment.
