My Coverart is not updating using Xant and Inserted CD ...

Postby m_masta on Tue Apr 25, 2006 11:49 am

Hey guys,

Is there a trick I'm missing in terms of getting inserted CDs to change coverart using Xant plugin? What's happening is that the "oncdaudio" database is pointing to a static location for the coverart found through Xant ( D:\Ant Movie Catalog\Pochettes cdaudio\Temp.jpg in my case). Xant does in fact update the cover to the newly inserted CD (I can check by using windows explorer and opening the Temp.jpg file), and the oncdaudio database tracks do get repopulated correctly with the new songs/tracks but Xlobby still displays the cover of the previous CD, not the new one. It's like Xlobby is not updating the image in the db, just the track info.
Am I missing something obvious?

I am doing this:
the steps I'm taking are:

- set database: category:music, database name: oncdaudio
- refresh: category music
- goto screen: audiocd

(all this after the Oninsertaudio command)

Here is a screenshot showing the issue, clearly this is not Mariah Carey

But if I look at the file D:\Ant Movie Catalog\Pochettes cdaudio\Temp.jpg this is what it is:

So the tracks are updated correctly in the db, but the picture is not. Weird.

did you try to temporary set the category to another database just before reseting it to oncdaudio?
May be that this is a new behaviour that doesn't refresh all info

What's happening, is that if I change the picture manually with the same name "Temp.jpg" and change the tracks information and do a refresh category, the picture remains the old one, but the tracks and all that change. But if I do change the picture to a different item, with a different name it refreshes as expected. So for some reason, when the coverart has the same name/parameter, it doesn't update it. I don't know if it's a Xlobby thing, or if it's something on my side.

Is it possible that you use the last exe from Steven (with the new "fast interface" )

I am using the new "screentest" .exe, and I also tried the latest regular .exe found in the download section, and both had the same problem. :?

I've seen the same problem with my InTheaters plugin using a recent build (not the screentest.exe). Xlobby is caching the coverart somewhere and neither a category refresh (which InTheaters does when it runs) nor a restart of Xlobby will update the cached image.

So it's not the Xant plugin. So either it's a bug or we need a category based coverart/cache refresh command for Xlobby.

Thanks tsw for confirming that I'm not crazy
You are right, perhaps we need to raise this in the bug forum .... or in the feature request forum ask for a "refresh coverart" event :D
I won't worry about it since there is nothing I can do about it now.
