Cover Art is Gone :(

Help each other out

Cover Art is Gone :(

Postby csvencer on Thu Aug 17, 2006 11:56 pm

I am in the process of learning this xlobby thing a little at a time and I feel like for every step forward I take two back. I used the basic tuturial to setup the music import list and all was fine. The cover art for the CD's I had came in and everything looked ok. Then I realized that I had been missing a lot of music that Xlobby missed importing. So I went and changed the import to ID3 and ignore folders and now all my music is there but all the album art is gone. Where did it all go.

My file system is
Music/artist/album/song
The art is in each album folder. Any help would be great. Thanks.

What kind of import were you using before? I have a similar folder directory and use ID3 but w/the "Ignore Folder" unchecked. When checked, the cover art has to be saved into the ID3 tags for it to import. Also double check your extensions if some of your music is getting missed.

The first time I was just importing from the music area in the setup menu (I think that is what it is called, its the 2nd or 3rd catagory down) and the second time I did it where you can actually choose to ignore the folders. How do I get the album art actually in the ID3 or is it way to much a pain in the butt and I should try a different method? Thanks for the help.

I guess I wasn't clear. Before you go about embedding cover art in all your files, try the ID3 import with the "Ignore Folder" unchecked (F2 > Databases > Import). Be sure the file types for all your music files are in the extensions field.

If you want to embed the art, you need a tagger like Tag & Rename. The cover art is just another tag, but better taggers retrieve and save it for you.

Yes with this sofware you can search and download album cover. Then you can embed cover into ID3 tag.
The Web Site is http://louhi.kempele.fi/~skyostil/projects/albumart/
You can find a lot of informations with the tutorial and the flash demonstraction.
Try this program its really perfect and quickly !

Thanks a lot. I got most of them back by unclicking the ignore folders button and I will be getting the rest of the images with that program. One other question that is not really related....I set it up so it shows artists (one of the album covers) then after clicking that it goes to all the album covers. Is there a way I can just have list of the artists and then when I click the artist name it shows the album covers? Is a simple fix or am I going to have to edit the skin? Thanks.
