Master volume up or down in stead of winamp

Postby ThE ScReW on Thu Nov 25, 2004 8:14 pm

Hello,

How kan i regulate my master volume in stead of my winamp volume?

I use also GPS and WINTV2000 in my carputer and if would like to hear it better, i need to set the volume louder of windows and the button in xlobby doesnt work then.
Is it also possible to have an application always on front in xlobby?

Hauppage radio receivers fit's nice in my skin. But if i would like to volume down in xlobby and i hit it, then the radio player of hauppage go's to then background and i don't want that.

THANKS

Yep, this would be an improvement, actually, I think it should be default.

You can only control the 'wave' volume in windows via winamp. Not the master.

I use girder with the "Volume OSD" plugin to change the volume on all my running applications. - Not great but it works.

Then why does the ati remote software can up or down th master volume? And my logitech keyboard can do it also.
There must be a way.

Think what Twit is saying is that WinAMP can not do it, and as Steven is only setting the winamp volume there is no current way to control master volume.

Like Twit I control the mater volume with Girder and do not use xlobby winamp volume.

However, like you say, altering master volume is simple and many other programs do it, you should raise a new feature request and ask Steven to create 2 windows events, volume up and volume down where you set the increment (as in Grider).

I will add my vote to it, I need this functionality for my PPC implementation.

In my current setup this works using girder. As XLobby has improved, I think it can also be used now to open other programs and/or set focus to other programs.

One nice feature in my current setup (IMHO) is that when I start a CD it keeps playing when I leave the music page and go to the weather page. But as soon as I enter the Radio page winamp is told to stop playing and the radio app is started or focus is being set to the app. Same for the TV stuff.

If you use girder, be ware that it is not possible for a program which doesn't have focus (like girder) to set focus to an other program. A work around is a small app, I think it is called "setfocus". Girder opens this program, the program sets focus on the app you want and then the program closes.

I remember looking a long time ago at controlling the master volume, it turned out to be pretty hard. I will take a second look again, maybe someone has figured out an easier way in .net

Found a way to do it, took a little while but I wanted to add this a long time ago.

http://www.xlobby.com/xlobby2.zip

use the new events under "os" called "master volume set" and "master volume adjust"

master volume set, will set the volume to a given percentage

master volume adjust, will increase or decrease the volume by a percentage you define.

works for me. test it out.

Master volume is great!, but is there anyway we can apply an image or percent display to it. Like the volume bar for winamp. I would like a textbox that has either text mastervolume>%percent% or ID mastervolume>%percent%. In additon I would like a graphic height or width to be equal to the percentage of mastervolume specified.

Also I assume mastervolume refers to local windows volume not xnet master volume. Which would also be great. One master slider to lower all clients silmutaneously.

Thanks.
