InTheaters plugin via XScript - Discontinued

Xlobby plugin development

Postby nivek7 on Thu May 04, 2006 1:01 am

Could someone please explain these steps in more detail to me? Im new to this, and don't really know what I'm doing. I'm using the theme XMetal.

" To view the intheaters data:
Create a new screen for InTheaters (I would suggest cloning your
movies screen (and any associated screens/overlays) as the template.

Name the category "Xintheaters" and set the database to "intheaters".
**** NOTE! THESE NAMES ARE NOT OPTIONAL!!!!!! *****

You can access the data using "category>Xintheaters>variablename" "

Thanks!

Seeing how you joined today, I'm guessing you're not up to skinning yet.
You're best bet is to copy the version for the default skin and try it out on this. If you want to understand the instructions, you'll have to understand this first: http://xlobby.incolby.com/SkinningXlobbya40.2.htm

m_masta, I notice youre directing a lot of people to my skinning guide lately. It is completely changeing soon. The new one is much easier to use, and has all the new features. FYI

hmmm... It's not working nowadays, I think it might be a listing issue.
It's stops at (Blank) Getting showtimes...
The blank is an actual blank, that is, no name for the movie :?

Am I the only one?

Worked here about 5 min. ago. Postal Code: L9B 2M5 radius 25. Maybe the server when collecting data for your area went down....unless its been that way for a few days?

Still waiting eagerly for tswhite's update though. Hope he hasn't dropped it.

Hope this was helpful.

Yup, it's a zip code thing. Oh well, hope it fixes itself.

Thanks for the confirmation.

I guess I'm just in time... sorry to have been gone so long, but between work, the wife, my 6 month old little boy and everything else I haven't had a whole lot of time to work on it.

But! you'll be glad to here I uploaded a new version this afternoon...
Changes:
Switched to movietickets.com as the source
Now works for US, UK, CA, and Ireland
Script now automatically determines your Xlobby path
Fixed the hanging problem ya'll were seeing (movies.com changed the still URL pattern)
Seems like there is other stuff, but I can't think of it right now....

The input parameters have changed now that we're doing multiple countries so you'll need to change your refresh event to reflect that.
Examples:

intheaters_getmovies.txt US~77004 10
intheaters_getmovies.txt CA~l9b~2m5 15
intheaters_getmovies.txt UK~M15~4W 20
intheaters_getmovies.txt IR~15 20

Ireland queries need the associated movietickets.com county code - see 1st post.

v2.0 05/27/2006
Steven’s Simplicity Default skin files & script:
http://home.houston.rr.com/rswhite/inth ... eaters.zip
(No changes were made to the skin files, so if you already have them you can just download the script.)

InTheaters_GetMovies script only:
http://home.houston.rr.com/rswhite/inth ... movies.zip

Next on the agenda is switching the trailers search over to Itunes using Xpath (that's been keeping me busy too, I fixed the Apple Movie Trailers exe). Switching over to the XScript_NG plugin and hopefully making movie time and theater filterable (I haven't tested this yet, so I'm not sure my idea will work). And some general searching for unknown coverart, stills.

Good luck, let me know how it goes...

it works well, but now for some reason it's not grabbing high quality cover art. They are very small. and don't look too nice on the big screen.

Thanks for the update.

Yeah, I'm using the coverart direct from movietickets.com instead of impawards.com. Mostly because I was never sure I was getting the right coverart prior. How about I add an option back to check for HQ coverart? I think I left the code in there it's just commented out...

I understand.
I guess it will differ for people depending on how big they choose to display the covers. Mines are pretty big with the skin I'm using, so the high res ones from Impa were perfect. An option to choose would be cool.
Thanks :D

Added HQ option for coverart...

Default behaviour is to use the low quality coverart from movietickets.com. If you set the HQ option in the script to 1 the script will attempt to pull high quality coverart from impawards.com - this may or may not be the right coverart or in the right format - you've been warned :)

Search the script for the following:
Dim HQ As Integer = 0

v2.1 05/27/2006
Steven’s Simplicity Default skin files & script:
http://home.houston.rr.com/rswhite/inth ... eaters.zip
(No changes were made to the skin files, so if you already have them you can just download the script.)

InTheaters_GetMovies script only:
http://home.houston.rr.com/rswhite/inth ... movies.zip

good luck,

tswhite,

I can't thank you enough for such an awesome plugin. Set up the new script and was delighted to find almost three times as many movies than before, with more theater listings to boot. I just have to scale my search diameter as I'm finding theaters well outside my city limits now.

Thanks again :)

Now I'm going to try out your AppleTrailer plugin. I tried the original code out, but haven't played around much with it lately.

Did I say "Thanks" again for the great work :?:

I suppose there is no way to stop the redownload of movies unless a change occured. correct? it would get pretty complicated then. maybe somthing like parse the title and if exists parse the times and if all are the same it wont redownload?.
