I'm back, I had gone out of town for a week and then of course had to play catch up when I got back.

Anyway to answer your question Baddabing I've got some improvements I'd like to make, but will probably post the initial version very soon, without the changes. But before I do that I'm going to need to adequately document the installation and usage for the plugin. If you'd like to try it before then let me know. By the way I'd like to thank you for your skins, if you look at the screenshots I posted earlier I've modified your HeavyMetal_TS skin for my own use. So thanks for sharing.

Welcome back Fletch!
When you doc this, I suggest you include your transparent, layered PNG approach to show multiple devices triggering on the same house/unit code. Very cool.

To keep it simple, I further suggest that only one of those devices is mapped in your example (unlike mine which in retrospect, is way overkill).

Thanks for a super plugin!

Awesome

Postby jdh2424 on Tue Nov 07, 2006 5:53 pm

Man you plug-in looks awesome.

I just bought some Insteon devices and am 99% sure I am now going to get homeseer to use with your plug-in. I was on the fences about getting power-home and using Xlobby as the front end, but it looks like I am now going to get homeseer instead.

Can't wait

Me too! Using homeseer just now for all my X10 and RS-232, would be good to ditch it and do it all in XLobby

would love to test...

Postby kuntakintay on Sat Nov 25, 2006 6:05 am

Just emailed you, would love to test. I have an extensive home automation system and use hs 2.2 beta (latest) as my main conduit for automation and security. I left my email address in the email I just sent.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,
Toby

feedback so far - and skin request

Postby kuntakintay on Sat Nov 25, 2006 11:20 pm

So far everything works flawlessly. I have edited the default skin lighting to just kick off lighting on/off, events, and scripts. Really no problems yet, works great!

I did see that Aaron had a real nice skin edits to control lighting and dimming. Aaron, would you mind posting a zip of your custom skin so I could use it as a baseline for creating dimming controls?

The only thing I see that would be nice is an Exec_x10byname feature for controling devices. I will post any other findings as I continue the testing and setup of the skin for my environment.

Hats off Aaron! I have a feeling this will be an integral part to my ha setup.

question on having an obj displayed based on a var

Postby kuntakintay on Sun Nov 26, 2006 2:40 am

posted in the skins forum as well, but thought the beta testers may have run into this and might know how to do it. Working with the default skin, and have added several control pages for various homeseer items. For lighting, I have a house image as the background and am trying to make the individual rooms grey transparent if a device from xseer plugin is turned off, and yellow transparent if it is turned on. I can get the rectangles there fine. However I cant get only one to show based on the device status. if obj grey rectangle click would turn on light and obj yellow click would turn it off. I know how to make the obj click trigger an event, but cant figure out how to make the grey obj only show up if the light is off and vice versa.

my question is more with the xlobby skinning then xseer plugin, I know how to use the ext plugin calls and its working great for variable text and buttons clicking changing devices ... Just trying to go a little more advanced for my lighting control with variable objects.

Thanks for any help you can provide with this skin topic related to the xseer plugin.

Feature Request - Images

Postby kuntakintay on Sun Nov 26, 2006 11:12 pm

Feature Request:

#1 Some internal logic to be able to have an image show up based on a dim status, such as 5 levels...

0% use off.png or office office lights off.png
1-20% use step1.png or office office lights step1.png
21-40% use step2.png or ...
41-60% use step3.png or ...
61-80% use step4.png or ...
81-99% use step5.png or ...
100% use on.png or office office lights on.png

#2 Some internal logic to be able to set the opposite of the devices status. For example trigger event when you click on the status image from #1 feature request, and if on or dimmed it would turn it off. If off it would turn it on.

Let me know if this is feasible or do-able... Thanks! PS-I have yet to find a problem with the plugin! Its working awesome! Sure I will have a few other feature requests as I proceed with the skin editing... Thanks again for your contribution and hard work on this plugin Aaron!

Toby,

The variable images based on levels has been requested by others and is on the list of features to be added. It should appear in the next version as soon as I get it done. Finding time has been the hardest part.

As for the second request, I believe you will find it is already available look at the ExecX10 Toggle function. If you send the ExecX10 command using the toggle parameter to a device that is on according to Homeseer it will turn off. If Homeseer thinks the device is off it will turn it on. A dimmed device is treated as being on, so it will turn it off. If this isn't what you meant let me know.

Thanks for adding in the future. You are correct on #2, I figured it out...

Thanks again, I am really excited about the plugin! Perfect fit for my frontend to control everything homeseer related (music, speakers, lighting, hvac, security).

My skin development for hs (work in progress)

Postby kuntakintay on Thu Nov 30, 2006 10:09 pm

For those looking at using this plugin, I thought it would be helpful to see from a few users how they are using it. Here are some screenshots of my environment.

I ditched xlobby a while back, and came back to it when I heard about the plugin, so I just used the default skin as a basis for my gui. This is very much a work in progress, but I wanted to get some basic functionality in place before I worried too much about how everything lines up, etc...

Main page:

Image

Itunes: (using the itunes plugin)

Image

Lighting: (all insteon hardware using the insteon plugin)

Image

Scenes: (hs events that are multipurpose, ie control lights, music, speakers, security, etc.)

Image

Security: (wireless sensors through the elk-m1g plugin and hardware)

Image

Speakers: (speaker control using AB8SS2 plugin and hardware)

Image

HVAC: (temp sensors through the elk-m1g plugin and hardware)

Image

My goal is to build total security system control into the security page, add graphical floorplan layouts to the speakers and security page, and build dimming controls (and visual feedback for dimmed segments) into the lighting page.
