Shoutcast Plugin

Thanks dgemily. Unfortunately I found many of these pls links, as well as those defined in the XML database, to be dead.

I used the working ones as a starting point, then downloaded more by hand from Shoutcast site. Then I ran the VBscript to generate the database.

I like the idea of the automated download, but it didn't work well for me (would get banned after 2 downloadsed stations, etc...). I also like the idea of the plugin (allowing for station refreshing), but unless .pls files are stored locally, Winamp can get hung up.

A little different approach.....

From my touchscreens (Fujitsu 3500's) I use Xnet to control Winamp that is located on the same machine that I have PowerHome (PH) running on.

I use PH to "announce" that I am changing stations, and also use it to look for open Winamp windows (if the station is dead) and close them. It will retry a station 3 times (sometimes the station IS available....but not on the first attempt) and then after the three attempts, it will announce that the station is "not available".

Since my shoutcast prob is now finally thing in the past i managed finally to make little time to install this on my htpc... and i have to say its working great. Thanx for great plugin.

However theres one minor thing which i hope could be fixed... each time i refresh stations, i loose genre pics, could these be made persistant?

Perfect,

An issue has come up that now your plugin will not refresh. A bunch of us are having problems and we figure that the shoutcast server has been changed/updated. Is it possible to get a fix.

Also, we have been requesting the ability to hold genre art...even after a refresh. Could this be possible to impliment?

Just wondering if anyone who has a private email address for PerfectHtpc could send him and email. Perhaps he would share the source code and let someone else try fixing it. I don't do C or C++, but I could probably muddle through it if I had the chance.

The problem is how to get a message to him.

Anyone reading this who may know who he is, we'd appreciate the help.

I beleive that I followed the instructions well. I have configured the shoutcst plugin, I have added the shoutcst catagory, added the refresh_db_cat button and added the status text. When I click the refresh_db_cat button, the status shows
"Processing Genre: TopTen..." and does nothing else. The databse does not get populated. Am I missing something?

No read the previous posts....or just read the following:

It would appear that Shoutcast has changed something on their site which has left refreshing the shoutcast database using this plugin useless. The developer of the plugin did not include any source code so no one can continue where he left off. We also do not have any way of contacting him to get him to update or get the source code off him.

My advice is to drop this plugin (until his return, or somehow the source code becomes available) and just use the ShoutcastPLsDownloader. It takes a little in setting up, but works rather well.

It's a shame that the developer of the Shoutcast plugin dropped it as it was a really good plugin to use.
